"OURheritage" started out in the UK in 2008 as a project between brothers Adam & Eddy van Veen. Their return to South Africa saw the band add virtuoso session drummer Howard Combrink (New Academics, Southworld) and session bass player Sean Chris Strydom (New Academics, Paul e Flynn) to the mix.
The songs, although easily accessible, are musically technical and the level of musicianship in this band is something that is a pleasure to witness. Somewhere in the ball park of Acoustic Rock, the band feeds other genre's into the songs that come from their diverse range of musical experience. Moments of African flavor, Reggae and even jazz tend to come into the mix; all calculatingly penned into an album of accessible, meaningful songs that aren't dumbed down.
Their influences range from artists like "The Dave Matthews Band", "Johhny Clegg", "Andy McKee", "Tananas" and "Counting Crows."
The band is currently in studio tracking their debut album "Give and Live" due to be released late 2010 / early 2011.
