Biography

The critically acclaimed New York based band Ours have returned with their most epic record to date. For their third record Mercy, Ours adds Rick Rubin to their already legendary list of producer collaborations. 'Mercy' displays the band's beautifully lush and urgent sound as it surrounds the soaring vocals of Jimmy Gnecco. Ours has also worked with producers Steve Lillywhite (U2, Morrissey) and Ethan Johns (Ray LaMontagne, Ryan Adams). The band first sparked a major bidding war in 1997 and signed with Dreamworks Records. Their first record Distorted Lullabies spawned the MTV and radio hit 'Sometimes.’ The band has become a non-stop touring machine over the last few years with their "do it yourself" mentality and their fan-base continues to grow. Mercy was released in April of 2008 on Columbia Records and has been widely praised by critics and fans. It is available only in the US as of now. The band is currently on a full North American tour. Lyrics

Mercy

Written By: Jimmy Gnecco

In his heart he's thinking that he's ours
Teach him to be Ours
In his heart he couldn't ever find
'cause he might take his life
teach him to be ours

We went blind waiting for a sign, just waiting for a sign
Couldn't see and dying
Waiting for a sign, just waiting for a sign

It's hard, pretending that it's not
Still we're reaching
What do we want?

We went blind waiting for a sign, just waiting for a sign
Couldn't sleep and dying
Waiting for a sign, just waiting for a sign
Mercy for the meek, mercy for the meek, mercy for the meek
Mercy for the meek
I won't let you go
I won't leave you now

We went blind waiting for a sign, just waiting for a sign
Couldn't speak and dying
Waiting for a sign, just waiting for a sign
Mercy for the meek, mercy for the meek, mercy for the meek
Mercy for the meek
I won't let you go
I won't leave you now

the Worst Things Beautiful

Written By: Jimmy Gnecco

On the day you were born
The sun filled my eyes
I fell within the wars that rise
What were you here for?
What will you find?
Could I save your life, like you saved mine?

Wait until the morning comes around
Wait for something beautiful
Wait to see if worry turns around
Wait, please wait

I tried to keep you from
Everything that was
So difficult for me
But it makes you strong
When you hurt so long
I'll put it all in faith that you won't leave

And I'll wait until the morning comes around
Wait for something beautiful
Wait to see if worry turns around
Wait, I'll wait

Looking up now you see that
Everyone seems so happy
The crooked somehow keep breathing
When you couldn't be so happy

Maybe they just don't know
Maybe we just don't know
Maybe we just don't know

So I'll wake every morning
Wake with the sun
Were the worst things always the first things to come
Find a way to move on, and a way to be strong
Because some things do change
Some things come that make
The worst things beautiful

Wait until the morning comes around
Wait for something beautiful
Wait to see if worry turns around
Wait

Murder

Written By: Jimmy Gnecco

Tied down to the things that we can’t let go of
Realized too many dreams we can’t recover
We layed down in our sleep and began to choke
We layed down in a dream and we never woke
Life doesn’t have any meaning, everything’s a joke
Been eating out of your hands, with never anything to show
We tried to get off clean, but we would never grow
Prison can’t be worse than living with the pain of knowing

Murder, Murder, Murder, Murder

We fight about the things we never even had control of
In and out of thoughts so many different people bought
Self serving ramblings in your favorite journal
Won’t bring you peace until you learn to read yourself

Murder, Murder, Murder, Murder, Murder

Bow down to the things that you can’t let go of
Eating out of dog’s hands with never anything to show
Even if it hurt to love you couldn’t leave it slowly
Slipping from your core as you’re waiting for you dream to come

Murder, Murder

Give in the things you bought with
Give in the things you bought with
Give in the things you bought with
Give in the things you bought with
Murder
Give in the things you bought with
Murder
Give in the things you bought with
Murder
Give in the things you bought with your life

Willing

Written By: Jimmy Gnecco

We didn’t know
We didn’t know
We want love
We want love
We didn’t know
We didn’t know

There were times I betrayed what was sacred to myself and lost
Over lines I’m ashamed of the things that I had done and crossed
I was so fast to run when doubt had come
Fast to run, so fast to run

We didn’t know
We didn’t know
We want love
We want love
We didn’t know
We didn’t know

So many times when I gave
I was vacant and I felt so low
I’m a monster, I’m an addict, I’m a danger to myself I know

We didn’t know
We didn’t know
We want love
We want love
We didn’t know
We didn’t know
Can we take another round?
Take another round of love
Without the guns?
Can we take another round?

We didn’t know
We didn’t know
We want love
We want love
We didn’t know
We didn’t know
We want love
We want love
I’m willing to listen
I’m willing to say
I’m willing to try or throw it all away
Do we throw it all behind?
Throw it

On a dime life can change
Everything that you once loved you’ve lost
I’ll tell you why I’m afraid with the symptoms I’ve been making up

We didn’t know
We didn’t know
We want love
We want love
Willing and now
Willing and now
Can we take another round?
Take another round of love
Without the gun?
Can we take another round?
