REVIEWS

Indie-Music.com:
"...a slow-cooked collection of divergent herbs and spices, drawing inspiration from Lou Reed, Wilco, Johnny Cash, and The Pixies."

The Brock Press:
"...seemed to challenge all genres at once, mixing a distinctive type of heavier folk rock with a hint of almost electronic-style pop."

Reviewer Magazine:
"OTD is a kind of neo-psychedelic rock band, with a certain quirkiness that recalls Guided by Voices, but they have gone their own way and followed their own muse and that is usually what brings out the best in people, this being no exception."

Amanda Putz, CBC Radio One:
"After searching through quite a few different songs yours played like a brilliant beacon on a dark, flatland highway. Prairies is a FABULOUS song..."

Skipping Rope of Daisies

Written By: David Morley

Skipping this jumping rope of daisies,
I won’t ever let you go tonight,
Leaping through flaming rings of roses,
I think everything’s gonna’ be all right.
Sliding down valleys, mountains conquered,
The horizon's always just in sight,
Riding red tractors into this sunset,
Shine reflecting all the light.

We've just got to escape this,
Float off and fade away.
We've just got to go insane,
The only way to remain sane.

One and two and three and forevermore,
Until this day is run.
Reaching out and grabbing at quasars,
And this vision’s just begun.
Catching a solar flare let’s ride it,
Way out of here and far beyond.

We've just got to escape this,
Float off and fade away.
We've just got to go insane,
The only way to remain sane.

Two Thousand Sunsets

Written By: David Morley

Johnny was a country boy, far from where the scene went down,
Always wanted something more, more than he'd ever found,
He said, "I'd walk a thousand miles to escape this town."
One day he started walking, down highways he did roam,
Two thousand sunsets from the place he called his home,
He said, "Surely this is where life goes down."

Two thousand sunsets, eight old pairs of shoes,
Every single one of 'em the soles are worn through,
Clean on through.

Johnny found a land of static twilight glare,
Everyone rushed somewhere but never ever got there,
He said, "These fields are paved, these trees are brick."
One night he started walking, down dismal roads he roamed,
Two thousand dawns back to the place he called his home,
He said, "I aint got nothing at least I've time and space to roam."

Four thousand sunsets, sixteen pairs of shoes,
Every single one of 'em the soles are worn through,
Clean on through.

Four thousand sunsets, sixteen pairs of shoes,
Every single one of 'em the soles are worn through,
Clean on through.

Exorcising Demons

Written By: David Morley

Don't feel like I'm living, don't feel like I'm dead,
Got nobody near me, voices in my head.
Ain't no one that knows, how much I am reeling,
I'm smiling while spiralling, hiding numbest feelings,
The colours have long vacated, they've left me this haze,
As vagrants they're leaving, monochromatic grey...

Chanting

I'm a voyeur that's watching this life from afar
Just jealously spitting venom to make you scarred
Dont feel like I'm living, don't feel like I'm dead,
This life it's just flatlined, no one cares what I've said...

Chanting

OM

Checkmate

Written By: David Morley

A pawn and a rook went out on a date,
The rook forsook nook for crook and took
Her on a blanket of cobwebs and soot
The pawn wanted lawn and yawned your wrong,
Cobwebs and soot and you'll never get there,
If you mean to do things obscene then it seems
My dreams fulfill and you just might get there.
Rolling eyes, deep sigh, no lie, the rook said
Goodbye you're too much trouble than you're worth
A cleft as he left her bereft a theft of all that's deft.

The King and the Queen were growing apart
The King everything lost found spring in a fling
And escaped her grasp for the night
The Queen awoke from a dream and screamed where it
Seemed the King plotted early destruction.
At night, the Knight, out of sight, brought her plight,
Sweet arsenic, a perpetual sleep,
The skill to kill her did thrill as it
Fulfilled the nightmares that suffered the Queen.
Now free, the King decreed her deeds weren't key.

The Bishop watched this roll out from afar,
A prod from God's divine rod exposed the fraud.
The King drew plans against him
Said look, the rook was the crook that snook and took
The Queen, then fingered the Bishop for treason,
Took the pawn so fond of the lawn brought the dawn
Of her reign as Queen over all
Enemies dead, hands red, now to war he said.

Dread

Written By: David Morley

No one will laugh out loud, least of all not you,
You that left me here, left me for dead.
The sun I feel it scorching down, saps the last of me,
But I swear in death I'll still be your dread.

(Breathing/Dying)

No one will laugh out loud when at last I come for you
Cause death's an illness that can spread to you.
With my very last death, my curse is forever upon you
As I rise above as the sun sets.
And no one laughs out loud as these cold hands grasp you,
You that left me, left me for dead.

Unglued

Written By: David Morley

I'm coming unglued, it's true,
Seems the seems are fraying right through,
Fire flickers higher, I'll melt with you.

This gravity grounds you, gives away,
These chains that bind you become frayed.

I'm coming unglued, it's true
Everywhere the people are seeing through,
Think I'll melt away, with you.

Everything that chokes you starts to sway,
All the friends that tie you move away,
Fictions that bind you, become frayed.

Happy Now

Written By: David Morley

How can I be happy when it's black as night inside?
How can I ever love you when it's myself I can't abide?
Fall flat on face, never getting things done,
How can I when I question before I've begun?
Everywhere around me the vampires are closing in
A foggy haze, dullest greys, this world I live in.
Specters haunt my days, ghosts consume the night,
In this state of disarray you want us to be all right?

I wish, I wish, I wish I could be happy,
I wish, I wish, I Goddamn wish I could be happy now,
I wiwh, I wish, I Fucking wish I could be happy.

Success here is etched in dust, erases with the wind,
Freedom, love, and happiness are lunatics that grinned,
Through this terror I try to show you everything I see,
But this nightmare's petrified, and no one hears but me.

I wish, I wish, I wish I could be happy,
I wish, I wish, I Goddamn wish I could be happy now,
I wiwh, I wish, I Fucking wish I could be happy.

Zoloft and Jesus, paxil, pet dogs,
Effexor and Remeron, faith in Luvox or God,
Lustral and capitalists, tricyclics, houses and cars,
Perdophran and Nardil, get a real job with great pay,
Noradrenaline, Dopamine joys, a needle with a toy.
Prozac and Deptram, alcohol and the consumer dream,
Trophanil, 2.5 kids, white picket fence, a doting wife.

I wish, I wish, I wish I could be happy,
I wish, I wish, I Goddamn wish I could be happy now,
I wiwh, I wish, I Fucking wish I could be happy.

Praires

Written By: David Morley

Miles of boxes grow in rows and gobble up the horizon,
Used to be some mountains there, way off in the distance,
North and east and south of here the sky stretched bold and beautiful,
To white mist where it merged with the gold and the green of the prairies.

Alien Man

Written By: David Morley

Alien man, alien man,
Stuck forever in a tiny little can.
Alien man, alien man,
You spoke of love little Billy just didn't understand.

We'll poke and prod your little eyes out!

Alien man, alien man,
You came in peace but you should just have ran.
Alien man, alien man,
Who knew earth would be your final curse?

We'll poke and we'll prod your little eyes out.
