Bio

Note: Full details @ http://www.outkry.com

OutKry is a high energy rock band playing reality songs with a positive edge to make a difference. Our genre is pure rock. Our message is very clear and as deep as you are prepared to take it.

With a mix of party hard, politics, social issues, the spiritual and love we cover the areas most bands won't touch. The music speaks for itself and seeks to fill the void in the current plastic prefabricated music scene and a world so gone.

The Music

Rock Is Back !!! That is the central theme of the OutKry sound. Not chirpy pop tunes that are quickly forgotten and demand something new every five minutes, but the full range of grunge to power ballad rock with a band that studies their craft as well as feels it in their blood. The drummer, Nick, has been described as ‘Keith Moon without the damage’, Jeff the lead guitarist “all the basics plus Santana and Satriani in one”, John the bassist as “the doctor of back rhythms” and Alx the lead singer as “taking the lyrics and voice far beyond where John Bon Jovi left off”.

The Lyrics

Many of the songs touch on real issues that face youth and generations X thru Z, such as depression, loneliness, loss of direction, confusion and a sense of belonging.
Whilst OutKry does seek to bring some reality in lyrics it is not politically aggressive and does not condone violence. Nevertheless this has not stopped repressed people from taking up the call and OutKry has been reportedly banned in Burma for supporting Aung San Suu Kyi after local students covered OutKry's song “Freedom”. This the band considers an offence to wear with pride.

History

OutKry was formed in 2005 from the remnants of Elijah’s Cry, a small time band based in Melbourne. Alx and Nick were determined to progress their musical careers with songs that matched the issues of the day to music that had international appeal. A demo recording was submitted to numerous record labels until a chance visit during an awards evening led Hardrush Music to hear the sound and which sparked immediate interest and the signing of the band to the medium-size Indie label.

Considerable research then went into every aspect of the band ranging from the name (chosen from around 100 variations) to the instrumentation and personnel suited for the range of styles. As a result Jeff and John joined the band in and the band has not looked back since, being on 3 recordings and heard on all continents.
