Out of the Blue

Michael Deneau is lead vocals and rhythm guitar. Picking up the guitar at age five and playing ever since, he has been writing and performing his own songs for many years. His vocals are reminiscent of Clapton; his early influences were Elvis, Willie Nelson, Santana and Led Zeppelin, to name only a few. His passion for music only slightly outweighs his versatility and sheer talent. He composed the melodies and wrote the lyrics for the self-titled debut release “Out of the Blue.” Then the Band improved them…

Ruben Lopez is the lead guitar player, and is one of the hottest lead guitar players in Northern California. He has a Santana-like style that is filled with rich soul and feeling, along with blazing speed and accuracy in each and every note. He studied at the Musician's Institute of Music in Hollywood CA. and Graduated in 2000 before moving to Mount Shasta and joining the band.

Out of the Blue has recently added bassist Jim Odum, born in Nevada and raised in Stockton, he began playing in 1995 and jammed with friends for several years, influenced by the Beatles and Motown legend James Jamerson, as well as Duck Dunn and Phil Lesh, while finding his own sound and style. Jim has also been associated with Michael Klooster, keyboardist for Smashmouth, when both were in Sugarfoot. Jim has become an integral part of the band, contributing toward its classic, upbeat sound.

Drummer Billy Davies of Modesto has also recently joined the band. Billy has been playing for 29 years, in almost as many bands, all heavy metal, and several opening for headlining acts. Born and raised in Castro Valley, he aspired to such legends as Neal Peart of Rush and Tommy Aldridge. The multi-talented Billy also plays bass guitar and keyboard, and would like the opportunity to tour sometime in his career. Switching to contemporary rock, he is lending his extraordinary gift to Out of the Blue, and has blended fluently with the band.

Out of the blue recently wrote and recorded an adaptation from an A cappella song written by Willie Nelson called “A peaceful Solution”. The song itself explores the harsh landscape of war through lyrics and the solo by Ruben Lopez is quite moving. The band
