"OVERHATE - Mission Acomplished -"

OVERHATE: Mission Accomplished
At the beginning of the "80 's", so named in the history of Metal, the first traces of what it described as a mixture of Punk speed and the weight and influence of the Metal riffs started to brew around. Few could have imagined the transcendence of what would be later called "Thrash Metal". A group of energetic Californians had found it ludicrous to think that the concept and philosophy of music they just conceived in 1980 would be preserved as solid more than 30 years later. THRASH METAL is now, a globalize phenomenon. In every direction of music, the THRASH METAL evolution that has occurred and is spawning riffs far from Thrash Metal to Country, Reggae and just about every other genre. Many fans started to listen to Thrash Metal during its germination or early days and strongly criticize the new waves of bands of the style, as "repetitive of what has previously been". And, in fact, there are plenty of bands that focus on the "Thrash Sound", so they do sound very close to their teachers from the 80's. Why not, if they (OVERHATE) do a cover band? It would be much easier for them to sneak into an already crowded market.

But, it is worthwhile to take a look at a small group of bands, who have dedicated themselves to build a custom sound, an identity, with intention to innovate. With property, in our country, you can talk of OVERHATE as part of that group.

OVERHATE begins his adventures in the year 2003, in the midst of a period in which the Thrash Metal world was struggling to re-emerge. Its line-up, a quartet that has remained stable since the beginning of the band, with the exception of a change of bassist. Giancarlo Vettor (guitar and vocals), Joseph Ortiz (drums), Erick Machado (guitar) and Humberto Ortega (bass).

In 2007, OVERHATE released their debut album, called “God in a Trench” which consists of 14 tracks that sung a message of "Anti-War". A Thrash Metal that would be displayed with a message of profound background and an authoritarian attitude. The album received rave reviews.

Shortly after their debut release, the band toured Venezuela and had the chance to open for the Greek Black Metallers Rotting Christ and also tour their neighbor country of Columbia. The song “Blind War” appeared in about 9 compilations, several Venezuelan, several from around the world. It is considered a classic and is still being covered by many bands.

By the end of 2010, the band would begin recording "Relentless Is Our Strengh" with the help of Luis Vázquez at Rock & Folk Studios. This work would be edited by Philipp Sheer at his own Black Star Studio and mixed by Felipe Gruber at Audioline Studio. Mastering would be carried out in Sydney (Australia), by Hellmut Wolf. In addition, they would have the work of Sandra Hultsued (Sweden) for the Cover Of The Album. Finally, "Relentless Is Our Strengh", whose chosen song is to serve as a single would be "No Change Today" was released in May of 2011. It was be released independently in Venezuela, by WOA Records in India and digitally worldwide Through Wolf Entertainment.
Breaking schemes to their first record, "Relentless Is Our Strengh" marks an evolution in OVERHATE and perhaps a genre definitive album. Technically there has been a significant improvement and professionalism in execution. The second album of the Quartet contains 10 songs, with an approximate average of almost six minutes per topic, something definitely uncommon in Thrash Metal. And now, to call OVERHATE´s simply thrash metal would be unfair. The amount of sounds that mix, most characteristic and original touch of the band give a particularly hybrid sound. Sometimes the music sounds industrial, to others Raw American or just Thrash Metal raw and direct, IN YOUR FACE! This album really calls to attention, and not to mention their live performances, which are a discharge that raises energy levels that few can reach.
From beginning to end Relentless Is Our Strengh gives us very little time to digest it's impact. "When Nothing's Mine" opens this album, with varied structures, voices of discharge and an enviable instrumental performance, the band delights us with a work that very few lovers of the "Metal old school" could despise. The weight and presence that generates the combination of guitars of Giancarlo and Erick is vital in the band. To that, we add the good base that brings Humberto´s bass and the vigorous and flashing drumming of Joseph. A very good equation, that no doubt, derives a compact and solid sound. The excellent work of this team effort, attests to the belief in the talents of all persons involved in the recording and editing of the Album. All tracks have an "epic" essence and are perfectly set with the lyrical content, which goes beyond simply "Wars and Atomic Bombs", as defined some average Thrash Metal lyrical content.
The complete work is masterfully done as a colossal grouping independent themes on the album, without saturation. OVERHATE forc - Andrew Earl Singer of International Talent Magazine Inc.

"Overhate – Relentless is Our Strength (CD)"

The thrash metal genre has been spinning its wheels for a few years. However, Venezula’s Overhate adds some much-needed polish to the style. Relentless is Our Strength is their latest album, and it pushes the boundaries about what metal (and thrash specifically) can be. The disc begins with When Nothing Is Mine, an utterly relentless sort of track. Each member of Overhate gives it their all, meaning that the drums, guitars, bass, and vocals immediately will be smashing listeners. Guitars blend together hints of Megadeth and Slayer, while the vocals are at a Sepultura or Black Label Society level.

The production unites these elements, creating a song that will get a pit whipped up after the first minute. None of the tracks on Relentless is Our Strength are short – With Us Or Against Us blasts past the seven-minute mark – but Overhate continually innovates and keeps things lively. International Slavery Song soars on the backs of sizzling guitar work and speedy drum rolls.

The band loves to go balls out with each track, meaning that listeners will be only able to bleed during the brief interludes (the bass line during The Consuming Element, for example). Each track on Relentless is Our Strength adds to the mythos that is Overhate; the act simply does not give up. Rather, they blast through the final track (Holiday in Wasteland). I really want to hear these guys live; I have little doubt in my mind that all of the fury and power present here would be amplified in a live setting. Check out this album today and see if they are coming to your country in the months to come.

"OVERHATE releases "Relentless Is Our Strength""

With that link you acces the E-version of the paper. Page 9 is overhate´s press review.
Since it´s in Spanish, here´s the Translation:

"This progressive thrash Metal Quartet had their beginings known as Mermelada Maker, but afer some line ups changes they decided to be reborn as Overhate.

Giancarlo Vettor handles Bass and Vocals, Chapa lara and Erick Machado are responsible for the fast and contundent guitar riffs and in drums we have Joseph Ortiz. "Since our foundation, we´ve always looked foward to create an honest and contundent style, in wich we can paste a strong message" Giancarlo tells us. The lyrics in their songs always share a point of view, but leave the listener to make his own.

Despite their thrash Metal style the band has a wyde expectre of influences, in the likes of Slayer, Kreator, Exodus, Testamen, Megadeth, Dream Theater, Sepultura, Cannibal Corpse, Among Others.

By the end of 2007 they released "God in a Trench" 14 tracks that speak about hatred and depise for human being. This band´s might is witnessed in every of their live shows, where an interaction with the crowd experience is lived.

"Overhate is a machine fueled by the actual situation, where inspiration to keep creating this type of music is found", says Giancarlo to wrap this interview.
