Lyrics

The Music

Written By: Mohammad Sabri

Verse 1:
I think about the lows and I think about the highs
but I can't think of a time when she wasn't by my side
Even through these nights and even through my strife
she's always been faithful so that's why music is my life
And unlike most couples, we never fight
I could be wrong, but this music is always right
She played hard to get but I guess that is my type
Cause when I first saw her, it was love at first sight
I remember the first beat I composed
That’s when I got down on one knee, and then I proposed
She could have had anyone, luckily it was me that she chose
Because without music, my poetry would only be prose
She deserves more than just a diamond ring
So I bought her a Stradivarius violin
I’m just rhyming about the time I got my first guitar
But look what music has got me now, a house and some cars

Chorus:
Couldn’t wait no, couldn’t play no
Baby look at me!
(All along our bond was strong
But don’t get me wrong this is not a love song)
You’re my inspiration, you’re my grace
Baby look at me!
(All along our bond was strong
But don’t get me wrong this is not a love song)

Verse 2:
And on the honeymoon, we rented a room
In the studio where I spit it hotter than Cancun
in June, or a sand dune in the Sahara
And consummated the marriage of beats, rhymes, and language
In each rhyme I managed to have each line do damage
Gave birth to new hits, but never a miscarriage
The music got pregnant got pregnant with my hip hop anthems
9 months later we dropped the first album
Now these bros want me to get at them but I stick with my mademoiselle
I rep Tennessee so you know she’s my Southern Belle
She always stood by me, in sickness and in health
And now we stand together, in riches and in wealth
And on our anniversary, I bought her a new nursery
A bigger studio to raise our kids, you know these verses and beats?
So what has music ever done for me?
Well she changed the last name so call this music Mrs. Mo Sabri

Chorus:
Couldn’t wait no, couldn’t play no
Baby look at me!
(All along our bond was strong
But don’t get me wrong this is not a love song)
You’re my inspiration, you’re my grace
Baby look at me!
(All along our bond was strong
But don’t get me wrong this is not a love song)

Verse 3:
I think about this music and what I’ve done for her
Took her to the border and made runs for her
Never cheated on her, never was I one to tell her lies
Cuz she could see my soul when I looked into her eyes
And yeah she got me, to her I’m committed
And if I did cheat it was only for a minute
Me and her are more than a hot 16 bar date, man to me she is prom queen
And to her I’m king, she call me sire
I spit it hot, spit it hotter than fire
And I get it wetter than the clothes before the dryer
And I don’t sweat it dog, I do not perspire
Her, admire, her yes sir
She’s the best I’ve ever had and that’s my word
And she’s my world, if anyone is asking
Music is my girl till I’m dead and in the casket!

Chorus:
Couldn’t wait no, couldn’t play no
Baby look at me!
(All along our bond was strong
But don’t get me wrong this is not a love song)
You’re my inspiration, you’re my grace
Baby look at me!
(All along our bond was strong
But don’t get me wrong this is not a love song)
