Bio

Overreact are a young post-punk group on the up. Intelligently mixing immediate & ‘obscenely catchy’ riffs with left-field ideas, Overreact’s debut album, Ambulance, captures a three-piece band with a melodic and well crafted individual sound.

Their influences range from the Yeah Yeah Yeahs to The Cribs to Sonic Youth and even the legendary David Bowie - a mix of music that blends traditional, contemporary and a whole heap of the extraordinary.

So is this just another young indie band coming up through the UK ranks?

Well Overreact are not just any band, having already left their stamp on the UK music scene and beyond with their first two singles winning support from BBC York and even BBC Radio 1’s own pioneer of new music Huw Stephens.

BBC Introducing, on discovering Overreact’s captivating live performances, invited the band to play a show for them at the Duchess in York, which the BBC broadcast in February 2010. This helped spread Overreact’s reputation as an incendiary live act.

Having played all over the UK and shared stages with the likes of Johnny Foreigner, Sky Larkin, The Joy Formidable, Frankie & The Heartstrings, The Virgins, Fight Like Apes, Dinosaur Pile Up, Dan Black and more, Overreact have been in the studio with leading producer, Will Jackson (Coldplay, Pigeon Detectives, The Cribs, Kaiser Chiefs) recording their debut album, Ambulance.

Aside from the UK, the band’s music has been requested by a whole host of international radio stations in countries such as USA, Ireland, Mexico, Germany, Japan, Greece, Poland and France to name a few.

Overreact’s remarkable debut album shows a band now turning their hard earned potential into success.

“I’ve never met a band as convinced they’re going to make it as Overreact- but you know what, I really think they will!”
Matt Seymour, BBC Introducing.
