Over The Falls

Over The Falls

 Santa Rosa, California, USA
BandRockMetal

We here at Over The Falls consider ourselves a hearty helping of rock stew, with as much diversity as we can muster. Some tunes are quick punk, some long blues/jazz rock jams, some downright aggressive prog-rock! OTF has a little something for everybody... even you!

Biography

Is it too much to ask that a heavy rock band also be a good-times rock band?
Do you have to be all angry just to play aggressive music?
Well, Over The Falls says, "NAY!"
Just because you like to rock out, doesn't mean you gotta be a dick about it.

Over The Falls was formed in May 2009, by 3 beardy guys who found a fourth, even beardier guy on Craiglist. Who knew that there was actually talent to be found on Craiglist? Tim, Bret and Chris sure didn't, since it took 'em over a year to find Ryan. After about a month of practicing new tunes, recycled tune-ups, and cover songs, they set forth gigging all about the San Francisco Bay Area, building chops and making fans.

Now, after releasing an EP, a full-length album, "Yes, Have Some" on Sell The Heart Records, and playing 80+ shows, they're still going strong. Did you hear the music yet? Well then, what are you doing? Go to the Music section and listen to it! Oh, you did?!? Oh sweet... Thanks! And please come out and see Over The Falls next time they're in your town (or within a 5-to-105 mile radius of your town).

The Sleepy EP... Lyrics for the whole album

Written By: Over The Falls

Hey Folks,

So you wanna know what were sayin', eh? Ya sure about that...

TRACK 1 - Wankers (Welcome to our E.P.)

We are Over The Falls,
and Welcome to the Sleepy E.P. (Welcome to our E.P.)
You may think this song's too long,
It sounds just right to me (and me, and me, and me)

Whoa-Oh... Whoooooaaa-Oh
How's that for harmony?

You might like this band
You'll probably love these songs
You'd better come to all our shows and
BRING YOUR FRIENDS ALONG!

TRACK 2 - Bad Dreams

Get Up! Wake Up! (x3)

Get Up! Wake Up!
You're late for work
You're late for work

Get to WORK!

Aww, You've done it now.
You'll never make it at this rate!
Might as well lay your head down,
On that pillow, and go back to...
Sleep

Get to WORK!

Now I know you don't wanna go to work,
But you got to,
Yes you got to.

WORK! WORK!
Get to WORK!

TRACK 3 - Malabarismo

I arrived at the crossroads,
The hour late.
I stood in the cold,
Cursin' my fate.
I called to the beast,
To show Himself.
I offered my soul,
To add to His wealth.

No time for deviations,
Or soulful contemplations

He stepped from the shadows,
Sportin' that grin.
Well I took that
As my cue to begin.
I won't dual you, or your golden fiddle
And you won't speak in dual entendre riddles.

No time for deviations,
Or soulful contemplations

When I leave, I'll leave with a smile,
Cause Sucka, I'm gonna walk with your guile.
These are my terms, now Do we have a deal?
Turns out we did, our handshake was the seal.
So you old devil, I got your charm.
Til I give it back you'll do no harm.
While we're at it, I think you lost your appeal.
Let me break it down to you, the raw deal.

You just got played.
Now it's your turn to burn.
Told you it'd be this way,
Everyone keeps what they earn.

So that's when I looked him square in the eye,
Got a good footing and testified. (Got a good footing and...)
As if lightning struck where the suzerain stood,
Dropped him as well as any man could.
While I watched that bastard fall to his knees,
I have to admit, I felt some relief. (I have to admit it felt good)
Cause I really hadn't planned past this part,
And I just got a much needed head-start.

No time for deviations,
Or soulful contemplations

For the devil, you see,
He's after me

TRACK 4 - Too Tired To Sleep

Too tired to sleep

I use illusion
Stops all confusion
Upward solution
Face-first contusion

Too tired to sleep

Don't I love you?
Don't you need it? (Don't you need it?)
On my mantle,
Can't you see it? (Can't you see it?)

You take the sorrow
You take the pain.
We lie, to lie again. (x2)

Get up, and get dressed...
Another day to get all those wonderful
Thoughts off your chest.
But what would you do,
If I told you,
That everything you feared were true?
Would you rejoice?
Or panic?
Sit up in your tower,
Or cower in fear?

I think the latter...

You take the sorrow
You take the pain.
We lie, to lie again. (x4)

TRACK 5 - So Far, So Good

Chris almost died,
But he survived.
I almost died,
But he survived.

Ankles... Survived.
Abscess... Survived.
Band saw... Survived.
Snowboards... Survived... so far.

Yeah, he's made it so far...

Chris almost died,
But he survived.
I almost died,
But he survived.

I been poisoned twice.
Driven off a cliff.
Bret and I were almost hit by an airplane...
Hell...
Once we even dodged the same bullet.

Birds... Survived.
Bees... Survived.

Avian assassins diving from the sky,
As it just so happens, they've come to get this guy.
They scream "Murder!"
They cry for death,
And I swear they may get me yet.

Ankles... Survived.
Abscess... Survived.
Birds! Survived
Taco to the Eye!

I Almost Died!
But I Survived!

TRACK 7 - Motorhome

It lives on the street,
Careful with the friends it keeps.
Part man and part machine,
Motorhome, It's a homeless dream.

Inside a traveling home,
A man using a fishbone for a comb.
His eyes are wide with delight,
Motorhome, he stays up all night.

He stays up all night!

He's always near death,
Drinkin' forties and smokin' meth.
Last night left him wanting more...
Motorhome, Time to settle the score.

Motorhome, Time to settle the score. (x3)
Motorhome, Time to settle it...

The Chase Begins

Written By: Over The Falls

I really hate to confess
But that’s a good one
That was a good one

I’ve seen my share of deceit
And that’s a new one
That was a new one

Now I’m back on my feet
I want what is mine
I want what is mine

I’ll wipe that smile from your face
I won’t lose this time
No, I won’t lose this time

The stones cast no shadows
There is no shelter from the heat of the day
Its been this way for a long, long time
And it will be the same today

The heavenly helix is endlessly spinning
Below those tired dogs continue to bark and bay
To the east are the tracks that they will follow
Unless Etesian winds sweep them away

I have succumbed to fevers and chills
I have seared in the sun and drowned in the rain
Its been this way for a long, long time
Now who said every dog has its day

Well your trails getting warm
So soon you will learn
Soon you will learn

What its like to lock them horns
Cause now its my turn
Yeah now its my Turn

As sure as the day is long
Those hounds keep dog'n dog'n
Day in and day out
Those dogs keep hound'n hound'n

As sure as the day is long
Those hounds keep dog'n dog'n
Day in and day out
Those dogs keep hound'n hound'n

Woodacre

Written By: Over The Falls

Poisonous youth,
Faithful enclave.
Stand up to the tyranny,
Remark on the brave.

Landmark of the Brave

Pining for Eldorado don't mean nothin' in a senator's jest.
White orbs of Carolina caught in the lens doth surely protest.

Beacon of Truth,
Twisted away.
Leaves of compassion,
Words of the Day.

Landmark of the Brave

So much for the lofty aspirations of evolution.
White orbs of Bolinas fear no backlash, or retribution

You wonder if you supposed to take it and
You wonder if you supposed to make it and
You wonder if you supposed to fake it or
Retreat and Roll Over.

You wonder how you're gonna fake it and
You wonder how you're gonna make it and
You wonder how you're gonna take it, a
Defeat in Woodacre

Rally all the forces
Break 'em like the horses
'Til they know to stay.

Rally all the forces
Break 'em like the horses
Keep the wolf at bay

Pining for Eldorado don't mean nothin' when you retreat and roll over
White orbs of Carolina caught in the lens of a defeat in Woodacre

Rally all the forces
Break 'em like the horses
'Til they know to stay.

Rally all the forces
Break 'em like the horses
Keep the wolf at bay

Han Solo

"Laugh it up, fuzzball"

You'd think carpentry would be interesting enough,
But not this guy, he's got ambition, talent, and other good stuff.
Just grow your hair out, get some baggy clothes,
And get a Wookie to back you up.

Han Solo, Death Star-O
Into go, Hell No!
Han Solo, Death Star-O
Into go, Hell No!

When not engaging terrorists in back-alley fights,
He's saving artifacts from Nazis and other questionable types.
We're just sayin' Harrison Ford's the man,
We forgive him for Six Days And Seven Nights... f**kin' Anne Heche

Han Solo, Death Star-O
Into go, Hell No!
Han Solo, Death Star-O
Into go, Hell F**king No!

Indiana, Jack Ryan, Han Solo!

Burst Into Beers

Written By: Over The Falls

A life worth livin' is all I need,
And all I've given is all I receive

So it goes
And on I go...

The world you've taken, the valleys, the peaks
Alone, forsaken, trampled with the seeds.
But I'll stand and I'll listen, to the echoes of the leaves.
And fire, Oh, The fire will take me to the dream.

So it goes,
And on I go,
To hear the whine of the one left behind,
And I know, I know, I know

I burst into beers when I think of you,
I drown in my tears while I hum these blues,
It don't bother you, I don't wonder why,
I burst into beers and deny

This life worth livin' is just what I need,
And all I've given is just about what I receive.
That lump in my throat, cast off like a stone.
Yeah, you sure got my goat, now throw me a bone.

So it goes,
And on I go,
To hear the whine of the one left behind,
And I know, I know, I know

I burst into beers when I think of you,
I drown in my tears while I hum these blues,
It don't bother you, I don't wonder why,
I burst into beers and deny
I burst into beers when I think of you,
I drown in my tears while I hum these blues,
It don't bother you, I don't wonder why,
I burst into beers and deny

Electric Don Knotts

Written By: Over The Falls

The flagstones gleam, The lamplights flicker
A madman seems, To dance and snicker
Down the alleys, And through the streets
Float his pleas, And his grief

You get in it, to get out of it
Its all the same, its all the same
You fed in it, you bleed out of it
From the vein, the vain
You get in it, to get out of it
Its all the same, its all the same
You fed in it, you bleed out of it
From the vein, the vain

The Professor and The Madman speak in notes
Oxford bound, London post

You get in it, to get out of it
Its all the same, its all the same
You bled in it, you feed out of it
From the vein, the vain

The Beldam of Bedlam casts her bones
Locked in her cell all alone

Skin and bones

With down turned eyes, He starts to rant
Those who see his lies, Have no cent to grant
Disheveled robes, Tin cup in hand
The poor man knows, How to sham Abraham

Its all the same, its all the same
From the vein, the vain
Its all the same, its all the same
From the vein, the vain

Set List

Our set varies every night, and we usually set it up depending on what type of bands we are playing with, or what type of crowd we expect. Sometimes we even play multiple, different sets in a night, when we're feeling especially randy!

We like to throw a few covers in there on most nights, because let's face it, most folks haven't heard us, and a familiar tune can be a wonderful thing when you're three beers back in a dingy bar.

Here's a list of our original songs:
Malabarismo
The Chase Begins
Burst Into Beers
Bad Dreams
So Far So Good
Wankers
Too Tired To Sleep
Motorhome
California
The Whetherman
Woodacre
Tres Knoches
Electric Don Knotts
Water and Hops
District 36

Here's a list of various cover songs we've been known to play:
Turn To Stone (E.L.O.)
Heart and Soul (Huey Lewis and The News)
What Would Brian Boitano Do? (DVDA, from the South Park movie)
Yezriel (Marc Ribot/ John Zorn)
I'm Bored (Iggy Pop)
Pet Sematary (The Ramones... their spelling, not our
