Bio

Owensie's debut LP Aliens is a collection of nine exquisitely crafted compositions that marry classical guitar intricacies with a contemporary folk delivery from the talented Dublin songwriter softly played melodies, with his lyrics weaving through the themes of migration, paranoia, life, love and death.

His influences are based within folk, Irish traditional music, along with Brazilian musical styles such as bossa nova, forro and maracatu, from his time spent living there and touring with Puget Sound, a post-punk experimental band from Dublin city which ceased existence in 2006 after 10 years of existence and many borders crossed.

His life in music began as a soprano at the age of 8 years old in a Latin Polyphonic and Gregorian Chant choir, moving into punk in his teenage years and subsequently into the realm of post-rock.

A series of life crises, depression and destitution resulted in a chance purchase of an old, beat-up classical guitar from a second-hand store one day, resulting in the recording of 'Aliens' by James Eager of The Hive Studios for free. The album was picked up by Irish independent label Out On A Limb Records and released to broad critical acclaim in February 2011.
