Feeling a bit camera shy

Owen Stewart-Robertson, for many years, has been an active member of Atlantic Canada's small but vital jazz scene. Through a study grant from the Canada Council for the Arts, Owen traveled to the northeast US to study with Boston-based guitarist Mick Goodrick. While in Boston, Owen also studied with pianist Michael Cain and guitarist Wayne Krantz. Owen earned his BMus in 2001 from St. FX University in Antigonish, Nova Scotia where he studied (and performed) with guitarist Tom Daniels. Additionally, Owen has studied composition extensively with Greg Carter, Daryl Burghardt and drummer John Hollenbeck and has had an arrangement commissioned by the renowned Maritime Jazz Orchestra. Recent performances have included trumpeter John McNeil, drummers John Hollenbeck and Jerry Granelli, and bassists Glen Moore and Barry Guy. Back at StFX U for the past two years (teaching guitar, ensembles, masterclasses, music tech, and 20th classical history), Owen has now begun pursuing a MMus - Jazz Studies at McGill University in Montréal.
