"Mister Oxford Train"

"Oxford Train’s [debut] EP release, MISTER OXFORD TRAIN, is a cross between Blues Traveler and Jason Mraz, which makes this an awesome project that digs into the deep roots of the alternative music genre. Right out the gate [Life Is a Song] grabs you with its light rock/pop/blues fusion and the lead vocal is very complimentary to the awesome guitar play displayed in the music. That unique edge that Oxford Train brings on this record is a breath of fresh air from a lot of the music I’ve been hearing lately." ~ Senseitional - I Am Entertainment Magazine

"Mister Oxford Train"

"The smooth, inviting brand of earthy acoustic rock [Oxford Train] has produced early on in its career is effortlessly likable. Songs like the debut single "My #1 (Sex Friend)" display Steven Bower's tongue twisting, hearty vocals over a toe-tapping testament to life's simpler pleasures, while "Big Green Eyes" feels an appropriate addition to any summer playlist you might have in the works." ~ Jared Bennett, City Newspaper - City Newspaper

"Oxford Train: My #1"

"Having mixed, mastered, performed drums and guitars on the new 5 song Oxford Train EP project, I find them not only a very talented group of musicians and songwriters, but also an incredibly unique sounding band. There's no "fear factor" in their songs, performances or production, from playing with the most simplest of ideas and parts to the most complex. I find it very refreshing being part of their willingness to venture into uncharted terrains. My #1 is all of that and more and certainly has all the elements of a #1 hit!" ~Jeff Silverman, Palette Studios - Musik & Film

"Oxford Train's My #1"

"The performances [on the single, My #1] are solid all around, and [Steven Bower's] vocal delivery is impressive!" ~Taxi.com - Taxi.com

"Hiding Scarlet vs Oxford Train"

"[Oxford Train's] style is familiar at first listen, however I cannot figure why, and it’s certainly nothing that I’ve heard in a really long time." ~ Dustin Dillinger, Gashouse Radio - Gashouse Radio

Bio

Oxford Train is a Rochester, NY based original 4-piece band blending elements of pop, rock, groove, folk & jazz into a savvy mix guaranteed to make your body move and your senses reel.

Born out of Rochester, NY when childhood friends reconnected in 2010, Oxford Train is helmed by Steven Bower on guitar and vocals and Nate Boyd on bass. With the addition of Brian Mohr on drums and Phil Geiger on keys, Oxford Train is a band to watch in 2012! You can hear influences ranging from Blues Traveler, Jason Mraz, and Jack Johnson to Dave Matthews, Michael Jackson, and Barenaked Ladies, incorporated with an instrumental elegance born of a love of jazz. The quivering vibrato of Bower’s unique vocals mixed with the laid back almost hypnotic sway of the guitar and bass create a vibe that makes you want to crack open a cold one and kick your feet up.

Since forming in 2010, the band has been juggling a date-heavy calendar with gigs (even opening for famed Barenaked Ladies frontman, Steven Page), writing & recording. Working with producers Stephen Wrench and Jeff Silverman out of Palette Studios in Nashville, TN, the band has been busy polishing their contagious sound and mixing it for global injection with their debut, Mister Oxford Train. Producer Jeff Silverman, former lead guitarist, co-writer & co-producer for Rick Springfield & former (LA) Motown staff songwriter, has mixed, mastered and edited for artists such as Boyz II Men, David Cassidy, George Clinton, Paula Abdul, Prince, Richard Marx and Barbara Streisand.

The band has recently signed a worldwide digital distribution deal with Stephen Wrench’s Cinderella Records. You can purchase the singles, My #1 & Big Green Eyes at iTunes now. Stay tuned for the release of the debut EP Mister Oxford Train and the band’s next single, Life Is a Song in May 2012.
