Optic Yellow Felt

Optic Yellow Felt

 New York, New York, USA
BandAlternativeAdult Contemporary

A very well done fusion between Progressive Rock, Folk and Jazz. The random use of clarinet, accordion, mandolins, banjos and piano, together with the classical formation of drums, bass, and electric guitars, drags the listeners to a new multiple instrumental proposal.

Biography

Born in Brazil but raised in the U.S., the Nader brothers were Influenced by the American alternative rock scene and songwriting became part of their lives.

After a couple of years developing their music skills, they met Tiago B. a local and very talented drummer and officially formed OYF. Solo guitarist Ed Marson joined the band months after an occasional conversation in a bus terminal in Sao Paulo. The band was getting shaped.

The band realized that they needed horns and keys, so Ricardo Pires (sax) and Nando Morsani (piano) were asked to join the team by Ed Marson, who was studying at Berkeley and personally new both, and introduced them to the rest of the band. From that point on it became a professional project.

On stage, the band sticks faithfully to the recorded material, but since its a jazz influenced group, the open solo sections brings the live act to a different atmosphere so well performed that it could easily be part of the studio recordings.

The random use uncommon instruments in a rock band such as clarinet, accordion, mandolins, banjos and piano, together with the classical formation of drums, bass, and electric guitars, drags the listeners to a new multiple instrumental proposal.

In 2011 OYF played in important venues in sao paulo like Na Mata Cafe, Beco 203 and cultural centers like Vergueiro and Rio Verde. Always with great feedback from press and audience.

With the recorded album, the band begins its next challenge, expand and expose, nationally and internationally.

Cup o` Coffee

Written By: Victor Nader

Cup o’coffe (4:08)

Called you out for a cup of coffee
Is that too much to ask?
Cause if its so
don’t let me know...

Took you more than half a day
To say that you appreciate
My work of art

Sure things will change
For me and my friends
Sure things will change...

So as I face your face
I’m placed in your maze
I’m wildly pleased

But since we failed to recreate
Our perfect crate
The wound still aches

Solo

When everyone is here to use you
I’m here still trying to amuse you
I knew that it was wrong all along, all along

And I don’t really want to hear from you
You’re a thick and crude being

Solo

Cause sure things will change
For me and my friends...

Captain of seas

Written By: Victor Nader/Lino Nader

Captain of the seas

Intro:

I’ve been throwing rocks over this creek
I’ve been wondering what you’ve been thinking
I’ve been sailing round and round my feet
And it’s been bothering my sleep

So there you are sitting on your own
Your lips are blue your hand is cold
Well I remember tickling your knees

Shameless, and set your spirit free
Join me on my boat...
I`ll be the captain of the seas
I`ll be the one for you and me
Rise up this fountain
Climb up this mountain
I`ll be the captain of the seas
I`ll be the one for you and me

It’s ok, just leave it all to me
Bless your dreams, wear your dress,
Spread your wings, place your bets...

Wait a day or more
Your portrait is on the floor
I still miss your lemonade
I still read your magazines / miss the way you scream
I still miss your hands
Miss your face
Miss your curling smiling way
I still smell your sweat
I smell your sweat
I smell your sweat... on me

Fine, Fine

Written By: Victor Nader

Fine, fine

Your pearly white skin deceived me all the way
Now you’re clearly out of range

All I could figure was absence of pain
And that look on your face

All the way!

So tell me what made you combine
Toxic with wine
You felt the cool in your spine
But you judged it fine
Fine…
Fine…

So many times I wished you were here…
But you couldn’t hear
And that made me sick

So many times I wanted to share
But you were not there
And that made me scared

So many times I wished you were mine
But I could not find
Cause you were not fine

All the way!

So tell me what made you combine
Toxic with wine
You felt the cool up your spine
But you judged it fine
Fine…
Fine…

So tell me what made you believe
Don’t blame self-esteem
On pride you step with the tip / you stepped on pride with the tip
Toes of your feet

So tell me what made you combine
Toxic with wine
You felt the cool up your spine
But you judged it fine
Fine…
Fine…

Don`t bend

Written By: Victor Nader

Don’t bend

So you think you are tough
But no youre not
No youre not babe

Youre totally unguarded,
Fulfill me refuse me

But IF you wanna try
Just lift your bones and be
to let it be, and make it vicious
cause hopes they are quick to dry
you must be moistening
dont blink an eye
or you Will fall a sleep
now dont you quit
cause loss somehow is a peculiar win
youre always gaining..

and Yes, ill be healing my hands
a hole full of heads
a link, to one soul
friends, Will gather to sing
so come on and sing

dont bend, dont Bend

Sitting on the floor

Written By: Victor Nader

Sitting on the floor

Feels like attention is fading
And dimension is changing
Until the morning come
Until the morning come
I will wait…. Wait, wait

So vicious, so ignorant
Sitting on the floor
So immature, so innocent
Sitting on the floor

Feels like the tension
Embrace us
And dementia
Increases

Until the morning come
Until the morning come
I will wave… wave, wave

So vicious, so ignorant
Sitting on the floor
So immature, so innocent
Sitting on the floor
Stop pushing and start pulling in now
If that is what you want

Sitting on the floor.

Discography

The Album

From the fusion of alternative styles such as folk, jazz and progressive rock, OYF was born. With the immersion of multiples instruments in harmony, its not just the rhythm that drags the attention.

The alternation of sounds surprises every minute, resulting in an art rock genre, pleasant to hear and original by its self.
Much of the music reached in the eponymous album launched may 2011, it is responsibility of the Roy Cicala, producer and sound engineer who also worked with John Lennon, Frank Sinatra, Elvis Presley, Aerosmith and many others.

The 12 songs recorded in the album was chosen out of over 400 compositions.

Today, other than Brazil, the band is represented in many countries of Europe and North America by Jan Cooper Publishing, Canada.
