OYME

“Oyme” is one of the most outstanding ethno-bands of Russia.
Since the band’s formation it created a stir and became a popular cult band among the world-music, folk and art-rock fans.
The rare Mordovian polyphony performed by the band vocalists with exceptional dedication is blended with the magic flow of electronic sounds accompanied with heathen percussion rhythms.
The combination of unique sound of ancient Mordovian folk instruments and surprising brilliant improvisations make “Oyme” an unparalleled phenomenon in the modern music world.
As the winner of the song contest of the largest music portal RealMusic, “Oyme” appears on the most prominent annual ethno-festival “Wild Mint” on June 19, and its performance becomes a big hit.
On June 25 the band gives a triumphal performance on the festival “World Creation” in Kazan and wins over the President of Russia Dmitry Medvedev who is an honored guest of the festival and an ardent admirer of the folk music. In early July “Oyme” makes a successful appearance on the festival “Ivan Kupala” near Kaluga, followed by the tour around Hungary. On October 18 the band has a rapturous reception on the festival “Ethnosphere”. On November 12 the band “Oyme” gives a joint-performance with the band “Kalinov Most” in Saransk.
The band “Oyme” becomes more popular with Finno-Ugric communities as it performs songs in the Moksha and Erzya languages. In the near future the band plans to take an active part in festivals and concerts in Finland, Estonia, Hungary and Sweden.
