Bio

I started writing songs on my mom's karoake machine when I was in high school, after I learned I could strum along with the drum machine on her keyboard. I used to only write music, but then started thinking of odd things I could make songs about. My songs have historically been pretty short, and it's only be in the last two years that my friends have encouraged me to try and flesh out my words and music. In 2002 I adopted the Horsemachine moniker for my music, and in 2006 I retired that name and now go by Ozarks. With Ozarks I want to try and write more the kind of music that I want to hear. I grew up listening to the Beatles, Beach Boys, Kinks, Rolling Stones, and of course Nirvana was the only "modern" band I'd tolerate. Some friends of mine introduced me to bands like Radiohead and Grandaddy in around 2000-2001 and since then I've really gotten into Ennio Morricone and Serge Gainsbourg. There are a lot of 1970s Itailian cop movie soundtracks in my iTunes library right now.
