"Paabel - "Epšpoa""

This is a record of the future. Either because of the music, the musicians or the smooth fusion of musical styles. Telling off anybody, who complain that Estonian music doesnÕt evolve or value its history. /É/ what comes out, is an incredible synergy which is hard to describe due to its ever-changing sound. To those acquainted with jazz and folk music, an occasional dose of beat and power is injected. /É/ But most of all does this record want you to hear these guys, who enjoy to the fullest what theyÕre doing, live in concert. I am already looking forward to the sun-heated black-box full of this synergetic feeling at the Viljandi Folk FestivalÉ just perfect. - Eesti PŠevaleht

Singel "Loomine" released October 2008
LP "Epöpoa" released March 2009

Paabel is an idea, an attempt to approach traditional music with an open mind, drawing inspiration on the synergy of the band. The ensemble has five members, four of them study jazz music and one is a traditional music student. The ensemble came into being in the spring of 2007 when Sandra had an idea to participate in Põlva Folk Music Arrangements Festival. The project with four jazz musicians gained momentum after returning from Põlva with the Grand Prix. The music that this five performs is a strong symbiosis of traditional that has had impact from any kinds of genres available. It is born as a joint creation. Many of our arrangements contain several smaller old instrumental tunes, runosongs and original compositions that are interrelated. Our aim is making the kind of music that we ourselves would like to listen to and enjoy - the pleasure of playing together and satisfaction are of primary importance.
