Bio
Chuck's Seattle and New Orleans roots have resulted in a spicy blend of rock, R&B, jazz, and just plain raw rock 'n roll. He's played keyboards (specializing in the Hammond B3 organ) in a variety of New Orleans rock and reggae bands, everywhere from Tipitina's to the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival. He opened for Talking Heads, REM, and others. Chuck writes lyrics, sings, plays keyboards and electric and acoustic guitars, and provides programming for drums, bass, and other electronica.
Music has always been in Lori's life. At age 3, she was singing Nat King Cole songs in the supermarket. This is not surprising, since Lori's father, Ralph, played trumpet professionally, Uncle Joe was a pioneering jazz sax player in 1950's New Orleans, Uncle Al taught piano, and Aunt Anne was a singer. Lori started playing violin at age 10, folk guitar at age 13, classical guitar in her 20s, and piano in her 30s. She started dabbling in songwriting in the 1980s and has been at it off and on ever since.
People tell us that our name, Pacific Buffalo, is really cool, and we agree! We chose it because we liked its associations with our roots, the ocean, the animal that was so important to Native Americans, the incongruity, and -- best of all -- it hadn't been taken already!
