Padre Pio

Padre Pio

Smart dance pop somewhere between Roxy Music and the Psychedelic Furs featuring lyrics about outer space and buildings.

Padre Pio began when David met Leah in a bar in Brooklyn. Their conversation went something like this:

"Do you play keyboard?"
"No. Well...I used to."
"Wanna play keyboard in my band?"

More members (all found in bars) were added, songs were written, shows were played, and, most recently, an EP was recorded. The EP has yet to be released, but the money, drugs, and blowjobs are already pouring in.

The music is catchy, danceable rock with a variety of instrumentation. It contains elements of glam, chamber pop, and synth pop, but it isn't fully encapsulated by any of these genres. Influences include Roxy Music, the Psychedelic Furs, Tindersticks, Scott Walker, David Bowie, Steve Harely & Cockney Rebel, and Echo & the Bunnymen.
