"After Ded Kra-Z & Princess Eud were off the main stage at Dan’s, the patio quickly filled for Paige Bryan’s set. The R&B-pop singer has an amazing vocal range, catchy lyrics, and an amazing overall vibe. Her songs had us happily swaying back and forth to the beat. Her back up dancers were a nice addition to the laid-back patio vibe. Bryan is a natural born performer, and boy did we enjoy her show!"

"Sinbad and daughter, CSUN alumna Paige Bryan, tag-team the VPAC"

Last Thursday evening the VPAC was treated to a double feature of comedy stand-up by legendary actor and comedian Sinbad and concert singer Paige Bryan, a former CSUN student and daughter of Sinbad.

The show opened with Bryan, who gave an upbeat and energetic concert, performing songs from her upcoming album “A Mile In Stilettos.” As a former CSUN student, she expressed her excitement to be back on campus and gave a shout-out to former professors.
Bryan performed for an hour with her band and hosted a dance competition between two audience members. The singer made sure both participants were awarded with a copy of her EP.

Following her performance, was renowned stand-up comedian, Sinbad.

Ranked as one of the top 100 stand-up comedians of all time by Comedy Central, Sinbad is a legend both on the stage and on screen. He is known for his appearances in hit films such as “Jingle all the Way”, opposite of Arnold Schwarzenegger, “Good Burger”, and his debut film, “Necessary Roughness.”

Sinbad lives by the mantra “funny is funny” and says a good act doesn’t have to be dirty. He is known for telling stories and throwing a comedic twist onto day-to-day life.

His performance at the VPAC lived up to his reputation. Keeping to his clean standards, he was able to keep the entire theatre laughing while avoiding vulgarity.

Sinbad has a strong love for audience interaction, calling on them to participate in his stories and answer questions.

Throughout his performance, Sinbad took the opportunity to poke fun at “third year freshman” and “fifth year seniors.” He continued with the university theme by questioning audience members’ choice in majors. He asked one student, a political science major, if he wanted to be president. The student had answered that a mayor will do. “Oh! So you want to be good, just not great,” joked Sinbad. “Only the best at CSUN.”

Sinbad clearly enjoyed performing at the VPAC and continued to answer audience relationship questions and gave parental advice an hour longer than scheduled. - The Sundial - California State University Northridge , September 22, 2014

"BFT Music: Paige Bryan - Singer & Comedian Sinbad's Daughter"

Did you all know that Sinbad's daughter is a singer? Well, she is and she is the real deal. Her name is Paige Bryan. This girl has some chops and the personality to go with it. I am one for supporting great talent so join me in supporting this young lady in your entertainment career. You can also check her out on Sinbad and his reality show called "Sinbad: It's Just Family" on the WE Network. - Black Folkz Think!

"A Paige from Sinbad"

If you’re Black and over, say, 49, then one of your favorite comics has to be Sinbad. And if you are a fan, you probably don’t need to ask, “Sinbad, where u been,” because you know that that happens to be the title of one of his latest projects, a 90-minute Comedy Central special that was broadcast earlier this year. (Available on DVD. Hmmmm . . . the perfect stocking stuffer). Filmed at downtown’s Club Nokia Theatre, it represents his first stand-up special in 13 years. You probably also know about his “Celebrity Apprentice” stint.

But what you may not have known is that since that over the last 26 years, he’s been married to Meredith for 8 years; divorced for 10; and then remarried to her for the last 8; and that he’s continued to do stand-up on the road, including this past weekend at The Canyon Club in Agoura Hills.

Perhaps most importantly, though, he’s been supporting his daughter’s budding singing career. In fact, at The Canyon, Paige Bryan, strikingly gorgeous and statuesque, opened for dear old dad. Performing tunes from her November-released “IMPERFECT ME,” which Sinbad “Funkmaster” produced, she tells the sold-out crowd that it took her over 4 years—and a breakup—to complete. Her lyrics and song titles bear this out: She and her producer, Chaka Blackmon, co-wrote all the songs, which she deems “very personal.” “Sick ‘N Tired,” a tight funk groove, “Yesterday’s News” and the title track surely acted as catharsis for her youthful angst.

Her set is a mix of hip-hop and ballads, with a stellar finale of Marvin Gaye’s sex cry “I Want You,” which, in Bryan’s angelic voice, is a slower groove, equal parts soul and jazz. Her stage persona is sexy and playful and, like dad’s, punctuated by a little comedy; no doubt, compliments of Sinbad, who, she says, was “[her] biggest influence. [I have] a lot of his humor . . . his sarcasm!”

Bryan’s solo CD (another great stuffer) is not, however, her first foray into singing. She was a member of a touring gospel group, Press Play, which was founded by The Dream Center, a nonprofit outreach organization near downtown L.A. dedicated to helping inner-residents. Proceeds from their outings went to that organization.

Raised in Calabasas with her mother Meredith, her younger brother Royce and Sinbad, her father had won the “Star Search” competition two years before she was born. She grew up deeply steeped in the business, with dad’s stand-up career, his soul music festivals and movies now looming large in her musical career. Keeping it in the family like her dad (his brother and sister variously managed him), she has her mother to manage and guide her).
About being raised by this particular man, she laughs as she recalls the family joke that if he hadn’t been a comedian, Sinbad would have been a Black Panther!

Thankfully, Sinbad, looking much younger (and leaner) than his 54 years and sporting a close-cropped hair style (no longer carrot top in color), remains one of the funniest, silliest, cleanest, most quick-witted comics—of any race—the kind you’d want as your tall, big brother. Despite the fact that audience is predominantly White, everybody’s cracking up—some Whites harder and louder than the Blacks.

But that’s perfectly understandable: Sinbad’s material, which addresses President Obama, marriage and traffic, is, after all, baby-boomer focused; not (seriously) down-putting; somewhere between PG13 and R-rated (“Drivers give you the finger . . . like they can fight. . .!”); race-less (for the most part); and, therefore, easily digestible by all.

When asked an audience member what his next ventures are, he first explains that reality television’s kinda killed the kinds of comedy shows [that he used to be on], then adds, “. . . and Denzel keeps getting my parts!” And in a funny schtick with the women in the crowd, of whom he inquires, ‘What do you really want,’ for every complaint women in the audience voice,’ he’s quickly able to turn the reply on its head so that it ends up being a pro-male rejoinder. Replying to a woman’s complaint that her husband drops his dirty clothes drawers anywhere and everywhere in their house, Sinbad’s solution: “Put the hamper between the couch and the front door”—i.e., the two spots he can most easily deposit his dirty laundry. His remedy for men who won’t put their dirty dishes in the dishwasher or wash their own dishes: ‘That’s your fault: Use paper plates.”

His remedy for us: Don’t miss him the next time he’s in town. - The Los Angeles Sentinel

"Daughter of comic royalty steps into the spotlight"

Paige Bryan is coming into her own with a music career that’s already well on its way, and a reality show all about her funny father, Sinbad, and their family.
When related to somebody who has been in the entertainment industry as long as Sinbad has been, sometimes it’s hard to be a star in your own right. That’s not the case for Paige, who at 25 already has a CD out with the extreme support of her father.
Sinbad acted as the executive producer of Paige’s album, Imperfect Me, and has been exposing his baby girl to the musical side of the industry since a very young age. Featured in the May issue of Sister 2 Sister magazine, Paige talks about her memories of attending her father’s annual Soul Music Festival and being in the presence of musical greatness such as Chaka Khan, Al Green and Prince.
Now, with her music out there for the world to hear, available on a two-year project that she refers to as “her baby,” Paige is gathering momentum for a career of her own, with performances such as one on “The Mo’Nique Show,” this Thursday, April 14.
And if that wasn’t enough, Paige and her whole family can be seen every week on WE tv, starring in the brand-new, bound-to-be-funny reality show “Sinbad: It’s Just Family.” The show premieres tonight at 10 p.m., and it promises to show just what makes this hilarious family work, love and laugh.
You’ll get to see Paige as she makes her way with her parents’ support, and you’ll see what Sinbad has been up to since paving the way for many comedians to come.

"Paige Bryan wins over the crowd at Club Nokia performance."

Eunice Moseley, Lee Bailey's EURweb.com writes: "Paige Bryan wins over the crowd at Club Nokia performance.
...
*I admit, like most, I went to Club Nokia in Los Angeles to see Sinbad – though I was to review the opening act, Paige Bryan. I tell you by the time Paige finished her set, we all where giving her a standing ovation. She didn’t let on, like I knew, that she was Sinbad’s daughter. She announced it at the end of her set, which resulted in another overwhelming applause.
I remember interviewing a younger Paige Bryan when she was part of a Christian Rock/Urban group, Press Play. Her Urban/R&B sound enhanced greatly the Rock group, which I thought had a fresh Contemporary Christian Music sound.
Now that she is going solo, and older, her sound is much more mature. She sang of triumph over love lost and the joy of love found. Her songwriting, even when she was with the group, is unbelievable. I love the way she gives you visual images with her words as she sings her story. Even though it was a bit too much “love lost” songs for me, her delivery, band and backup singers still had me (and the crowd) egging her on, “you go girl!”
The songs performed by Paige Bryan are on her debut solo project “Imperfect Me” produced by Chaka Blackmon (Christina Aguilera). She has also starred in a docu-series, “Sinbad: It’s Just Family,” that aired for six weeks on WE tv – along with her father Sinbad, mother/manager Meredith Adkins and brother Royce Atkins.

Bio

Born and raised in Los Angeles, California, Paige Bryan is a natural born performer, singer and songwriter. Drawn to music from a very early age, Bryan recalls growing up attending her father’s 70’s Soul Music Festivals and bearing witness to such iconic acts as Chaka Khan, Earth, Wind & Fire, and The Isley Brothers. It was watching these great acts and the way they connected to and enraptured their audiences that led to this singer/songwriter’s belief that, “Music should be felt, not just heard.” Experiences such as these ignited a desire and passion in Bryan for music, and inspired her to pursue a career in the music.

Paiges’ first album, released in 2010 titled Imperfect Me, was co-written by Paige and producer/songwriter Chaka “The Chakfather” Blackmon. The album is a contemporary mélange of R&B/soul/funk and showcases Bryan's vocal and writing abilities. Her song “Here I Am” received award-winning recognition in the 2011 U.S.A. Songwriting Competition. In 2012, she released an EP, Pieces of Me, which she co-wrote with producer Swoop Brown.

Throughout her career, Bryan has shared the stage with some of today’s most notable artists. Her most notable television appearance was her family's reality series Sinbad: It’s Just Family. Paige has performed at numerous venues in the US, Europe, Middle East and Japan. One of the highlights of her career has been performing for our military troops at various bases around the world.

Over the past year, Paige collaborated with singer/songwriter/producer Manwell Reyes of Dove award winning group Group 1 Crew and producers Austin Brown and Brian London. Paige says, “I feel this new music is the closest I’ve come to expressing who I am as an artist through my craft.” She co-wrote her latest single on iTunes "London Bridges," and new songs from her latest project. "You Gon Learn" and "Intentions" are just a few examples that will give you a glimpse into what you can expect to come from Paige in the future. Paige also created an entertainment podcast, Keepin’ It PC, hosted on Soundcloud

Viewing her talents as a gift and calling, Bryan is driven by the hope that sharing the truths of her own life experiences through music will inspire and encourage others in the same manner music has inspired and encouraged her. She brings the essence of that passion to the stage creating a dynamic and unforgettable performance. With much on the horizon, it is safe to say this talented songstress/songwriter is definitely one to watch.
