Painting Elephants

Painting Elephants was formed in early 2011, the members all students at Tech Music School in London where they met and realized they dug the same kind of music. Last to join the band was Davide Marini on drums and with him Painting Elephants became louder than ever before. Although they simply call themselves a rock band, there are definitely a lot of other influences behind the songs. Yes, there is a fair amount Queens of the stone age, Led Zeppelin, White Denim and Jack White but there are some soul-y and funky moments that makes one think of Erykah Badu or PJ Harvey and there's definitely some jazz in there plus badass hip-hop beats.

Though the band is currently London-based, Painting Elephants consist of three Swedes, an Irish girl and an Italian dude. Vocals, two guitars, bass plus drums, a conventional set-up that never ceases to surprise you. Painting Elephants did a lot of gigs in their first year, venues from Purple Turtle and the 229 to Proud Camden. Right now they are recording songs, planning music videos and writing heavier tunes than ever before. If you're in town, check them out.
