Biography

Palatial Digs are from Perth, W.A. and play classic rock with a quirky mix of blues and roots influences.

Often described as energetic, danceable, fun and sleazy, Palatial Digs are always out to put on a show and party hard.

“Most impressive is this band's commitment to their measured show, never under or overdone; they cooked up their rock blues just right." Xpress Mag

Since 2010 (when old and new band members emulsified into their current line up) they supported blues powerhouse Dallas Frasca, played at the Blues at Bridgetown Festival, represented WA in the national Guiness Live grand final and won the WAM Blues and Roots Song of the Year 2010 with their song Hoborockabilly.

“This'd go down pretty well live! A low down hillbilly stomper.” Steph Hughes – Triple J

A Palatial Digs live show really does goes off, whipping crowds into a frenzied mix of dancing, moshing and bootscooting. Their eclectic brand of dirty rock n roll is free and unrestricted. From a power trio pumping out gritty hard rock to a 6 piece with horns dishing out some funk n chips, you never know what you might get, but there is always something for everybody’s taste and Palatial Digs serve it up with passion and intensity.

“Palatial Digs really know how to work a crowd. Songs like Nothin’ On Me’ and ‘Tumour’ were just built to dance to. If you haven’t seen Palatial Digs’ mix of rock, blues and funk, then get down to one of their shows – Fast.” Spaceship News

“Country, funk and nostalgic old school rock and roll all rolled into one well-rehearsed package.” Fasterlouder

Palatial Digs released their debut EP in July 2011 which is available now through Firestarter Distribution.

Lyrics

Tumour

Written By: L. Scales

I’m a dog trying to scratch an itch
It drives me crazy like the scent of a bitch
In heat, insane on a chain in a cage
Got to keep occupied keep scratching away

My mind is sticky, from all of the juice
Wound up so tight just trying to get loose
So damn hot down deep in the fry
I cross my heart and I hope to die

Yeah, I’m a Tumour
Feed me and I grow I’m a mass consumer
Bloated, toasted, glued to the couch
Soaked in gin shootin’ of at the mouth

I’m a light-weight sippin heavy loader
Not that pretty and getting older
If tomorrows just like yesterday
Please come and take my breath away

Yeah, I’m a Tumour
Feed me and I grow I’m a mass consumer
Bloated, toasted, glued to the couch
Soaked in gin shootin’ of at the mouth

Surgery Line

Written By: L.Scales

I’ve been waiting trying out my patience
With all the other patients in the surgery line
I’m just hoping the Doctor’s outspoken
Just enough to tell that it’s all in my mind

And it’s so good
When the bass is overdriven
Rolling tight in with the rhythm
Like a Rizla round a spliff

Now I understand why you take that medicine
To drown out the shout of the living dead girl rotting in a rave

I’ve been waiting trying out my patience
With all the other patients in the surgery line
I’m just hoping the Doctor’s outspoken
Just enough to tell that it’s all in my mind

Take me back
To the days of Cripple Creek
When the Man in Me would seek
A revolution in streets

Now I understand why you take that medicine
To drown out the shout of the living dead girl rotting in a rave

I’ve been waiting trying out my patience
With all the other patients in the surgery line
I’m just hoping the Doctor’s outspoken
Just enough to tell that it’s all in my mind

Nothing on Me

Written By: L.Scales

You aint, got nothing on me
You aint, got nothing on me
Law man, waving your gun all over town
Crooked in the courthouse, you think you run this town
When your judgment day it comes, you and yours are going down

You can lock me up, like and animal, you aint got nothing on me
Label me, a criminal, but you aint, got nothing on me

You want justice, that’s not your choice
When money, speaks louder than your voice
And a poor boy like me, aint got no chance of living free

You can lock me up, like and animal, you aint got nothing on me
Label me, a criminal, but you aint, got nothing on me
