Bio
The voice of Julie Palmer is hauntingly beautiful in its delivery and feel. The singer/songwriter has been playing guitar and writing songs since the age of ten and has been influenced by the likes of Billy Corgan, Joni Mitchell, Jeff Buckley, Heather Nova and Queen. Originally from Gunnedah, Australia, Julie’s love of music and passionate flair for songwriting, initiated moves around Australia and more recently, to the UK.
Her achievements include being named Songwriter of the Year at the 7th Annual Contemporary Music Centre Awards in 2003, after completing a music diploma. She has also worked with UK songwriters Tom Nicholls and Tim Baxter at Sony Studios Sydney, recording backing vocals for fellow Gunnedah girl, Erica Baxter. Julie’s songwriting talents scored her nominations at the 2005 Musicoz Awards, Australia's premier music awards for unsigned artists. Her song ‘Destiny to Prove’ reached the Top 5 of the World Music Category, and ‘Run’ made the Top 10 in the Dance Category. ‘Run’ was also a semi-finalist in the 2006 International Song Competition.
This young artist enchants audiences across the world with her beautiful voice, honest lyrics and down to earth attitude. Her style has been described as acoustic beauty; pop meets folk with an Australian Joni Mitchell flavour. 2009 will see Julie return to Sydney and make her mark on the Australian music scene.
