Horse Opera. Americana and roots music from Austin TX.
Veterans of the Austin music scene, with several national tours under their belt, Horse Opera is hitting the road in late July and August in support of their upcoming cd release. Their second studio cd will hit stores and be available online July 16th.
CD release party will be at the White Horse in Austin, TX on July 11th, as part of a kick off party for the Viva Big Bend festival.
The band just played an official showcase slot at SXSW 2013 at Austin's White Horse Bar, where they also hold a monthly residency the first thursday of each month.
They also recently had a featured session on 'Daytrotter.com'. See the music player to hear a couple of those tunes.
There are also 3 songs from the upcoming cd on the music player on this page, and a live video from the Brooklyn Country Showcase during SXSW.
Horse Opera will kick off their tour at the Viva Big Bend festival in West Texas on July 28th.
The upcoming cd is the first to feature songs and singing by Chris 'Howdy' Darrell, who joined the band, sharing fronting duties, with founder Jimmy Deveney, in 2012.
Horse Opera released their first studio cd in 2010, 'Sounds of the Desert'. It gained critical acclaim, great sales on line, in stores and at shows, and earned the band a national distribution deal for the cd after it had already been out for a year.

Palomino Shakedown is a 6piece band from Austin TX that incorporate a wide variety of influences from roots/alt country, soul and rock and roll. The band consists of Jimmy Deveney (guitar/vocals) Howdy Darrell (guitar/vocals) Rick Watson (bass) Ryan Patterson (drums) Will "Willie D" Daniel (keyboards/sax) and Heather Rae Johnson (fiddle/vocals)
The band formed in 2015 with several of the players coming together from various other musical projects, they released a self titled EP in May of 2015 with plans for a full length album and touring in 2016.
