earBuzz Review: Pamela Lynn's CD "Fearless and Feminine" is an 8 track collection of percussion performances nothing short of amazing and commanding. Her talents run deep and through several instruments including djembe, cajon, doumbek, balafon, bells, gong, buffalo drum, and drum kit to name a few. It is amazing that a multi-tracked groove can be produced by one person. ..but that is exactly what occurs on most if not all the tracks. The opening cut, "Speed of Trust", is a chaotic and energetic freeing performance on several instruments. Track 3, "Voices of Influence" has one of the most infectious grooves on the record. It's guaranteed to make you involuntarily move. Lynn also adds vocals with lyrics and vowel sounds to a few of the tracks - and the contrast is stunning. Her powerful percussive playing is 180 degrees from her gentle and kind alto voice. In track 4, "Harmonic Conscience", she sings, 'did what I had to do, I didn't do it just to hurt you, heard what you said and I don't want to fight, but I know wrong from right'. Track 5, "Essence of Wisdom" builds to a gong swelling crescendo topped with a bell in its intensity. Track 6, "Grains of Sand", has what seems to be an inspired percussive performance from some of the most intricate patterns we've heard in college marching bands. We're reminded of the movie 'Drumline'. .but then shake our heads and realize this is frmo one person. One person, a woman, who donates $1 from each CD to women's rights organizations internationally. Unreal, unbelievable, and unforgettable.

Perhaps the greatest thing about maintaining this website is that I get to correspond with many incredibly unique and talented performers that I may have never come accross otherwise. In a world where so much music is artificial and manufactured, it is very refreshing to come accross a true artist. This statement has never been truer than with the following musician.

Pamela Lynn is an amazing world class percussionist, composer and arranger from British Columbia Canada. Her album, "Fearless and Feminine: A Voice of Intuitive Rhythms" is a collection of original compositions all performed by Pamela herself. Using a wide variety of percussion instruments as well as her lovely voice, Pamela's multi layered rhythms and melodies manage to take the listener on a relaxing, spiritual journey to a world far outside of our hectic and busy lives.

Pamela accurately describes her sound as a blend of West African and Middle Eastern rhythms with her own contemporary style. She is inspired by many great international artists. Most notably is Grateful Dead drummer Mickey Hart, who has over the years produced many great albums featuring world percussion. Fans of Mickey will definitely enjoy this album.

Canadian World Percussionist/Composer Pamela Lynn recently received the honor of being named October's Runner-Up by the Song of the Year songwriting contest. Song of the Year is an international songwriting contest supporting VH-1's Save the Music Foundation. The Song of the Year judges are some of the biggest names in music including many Grammy Award winners.

Ms. Lynn competed against songwriters from all over the world for this honor.
