"Country Rebel hits North Bay Saturday Night"

Every moment of every day over the last few weeks has been all consuming for songstress Pam Millar.
Millar is taking the stage at the Capitol Centre in North Bay on Saturday, May 11 at 7:30 p.m. for the debut release of Country Rebel, the singer's second album.
"It's going really well" said Millar.
Ticket sales are going well, but there is still an opportunity for fans to see the local girl and her band, aptly named the Pam Millar Band, and special guest such as Sean Cotton and Malcolm Newburn.
Millar says the feedback she has gotten is that people are "pumped" for the show.
"They know that we put on a very high energy , interactive performance and people are actually quite excited," she said. "And we're getting really great feedback from the new material we're putting out".
The entire Country Rebel will be played and many from the first album, Small Town Girl.
Of course we can't do a show without doing Me and Bobby McGee and Travelin' Soldier, she said. "Our fans would probably very angry if we didn't play those songs so we're playing some covers as well".
She says they won't disappoint. There is a packed two hour performance in store.
To date more then 300 tickets have sold and there is one VIP package left, which will allow a fan into the preshow meet and greet.
There is also Millar memorabilia available for sale including the Country Rebel CD, t-shirts, beer cozies and photos.
For more information about the VIP package, visit www.pammillar.com. Tickets to the show are still available online through the Capitol Centre website at www.capitolcentre.org or at the door. - North Bay Nipissing News May 9 2013

"Small Town Girl may go national"

Local Pam Millar fans received a special treat on the weekend.
The singer-songwriter debuted the video for her song Small Town Girl during a performance at the Burk's Falls Towne Theatre on Aug. 27.
"It's so surreal to know that it's you...all of what's happening now has surpassed my wildest dreams," said Millar, of her rising music career.
Now in the hands of a Toronto-based production company, the video is being brought up to Canadian broadcast standard before being sent to CMT for consideration. The Burk's Falls native said she hopes the video will make it into rotation on the music station.
It was Millar's high school pal Lewis Hodgson and his wife Heather who took the intitial idea of the music video and ran with it, becoming producers of the project.
"The idea of a video was kind of a joke at first, but then we had a serious discussion about it," said Millar.
The Hodgsons then contacted professionals Kevin hoffman and Patrick Gilbert.
Both hailing from the North Bay area, Hoffman directed and edited the video, and Gilbert was the cinematographer of the project, which took about six months to complete.
"We knew we wanted an outdoor festival scene, so we had to wait for the nicer weather," said Millar, noting Gilbert and Hoffman jumped at the opportunity to get involved even though they had no experience in the world of music videos.
"They bounced ideas off me. It was almost like they could read my mind... I already had goose bumps just listening to them," said Millar, adding she is thrilled with the end result.
"The video is good quality. I think it's TV-quality," said Millar. "I just hope CMT agrees."
While most of the talent for the video came from the North Bay area, local youngsters Hailey and Curtis Clark, Bailee Mykytowich and Abigail Calarco show case their acting skills.
"The song is such a literal song. It speaks to my journey and my choice not to pursue a career in music, but to raise a family instead," added the mother of two girls. "When you hear the lyrics, it really does guide the story."
Up next for Millar is a concert at the fall fair in South River on Sept. 10 beginning at 8 p.m. - Almaguin News
