Panther pounced upon his prey at the Los Angeles Black Business Expo Saturday night. Birth named him Mark Allen Felton, but the crowd at the West Coast Fashion Summit's Fashion Show put this soprano saxophonist in his natural habitat. As the show's opening act, Felton immediately took total control of the stage with a commanding presence not commonly found among jazz musicians.
In a gutsy feat of artistry, Felton stepped into the spotlight, silhouetted by high beams, and held one of the highest notes on an instrument already well versed in altitude for a good minute and a half, no joke. Next thing you knew, Panther's eyes started panning the crowd, conjuring images from Discovery Channel specials, and then he slowly strolled down the runway, maneuvering his soprano like a weapon in battle.
They applauded Panther's energetic performance as he departed with a trademarked kiss to the side of his sax. Felton marched off stage confident that he had achieved his mission.

I was in attendance at the "Faith Works" Conference in Chicago on October 10, 2002. What a magnificent manifestation of Psalm 150! I purchased the CD. (Thank you for the autograph.) While track #8 has a special meaning to me, the entire album is AWESOME! I recorded "Yes Jesus Loves Me" and "I'm In The Flock" over and over again on both sides of a cassette tape and I play it in my car everyday. May God continue to bless you and your music.

I saw him play for the first time at the Forum and I was mesmerized by his performance. I bought the CD then and I immediately put it in my CD player in my car. Bio
This multi-faceted musician is a native of Chicago, Illinois and has made a name for himself as one of the smoothest saxophonist around! At the tender age of 11, he began pursuing a musical pathway that was inspired by such artists as Grover Washington Jr., Kool & The Gang and Earth, Wind and Fire. By the time he graduated from high school, Mark Allen Felton aka Panther had received numerous awards for his musical excellence including a scholarship to Texas Southern University in Houston.
While attending TSU, Panther played in the school’s jazz ensemble and other local bands. Soon after, he formed his own band, Electric Storm, which featured Terry Ellis from R&B super group En Vogue.
Felton soon relocated to Los Angeles and began building a reputation for himself appearing in videos with various R&B and Rap hit makers. In addition to his smooth Jazz career, Felton has also built quite a reputation in the Gospel arena and has traveled abroad performing in such countries as Japan, France, Italy, and the United Kingdom.
Felton released his first smooth Jazz CD On The Prowl on his own record label, Miõn Records in 1994. Felton has written well over a hundred songs including the theme song for the nationally syndicated radio show Radioscope. Not just another saxophonist, Felton is an artist you have to experience.
He has shared the stage with many artists including: Stevie Wonder, Al Jarreau, Oleta Adams, Chaka Khan, Kenny G., Ronnie Laws, Kirk Whalum, Billy Preston, Bobby Womack, Carl Thomas, and percussionist Ndugu Chancler.
Panther is well respected by his peers which shows through the support of his band who are a group of talented musicians having years of experience performing in various musical situations. They have performed with many artists including Destiny’s Child, Eartha Kitt, Julian Lennon, Ray Charles and a host of others. Each member is well seasoned and provides a rich, diverse musical background. It is in this musical soil that the already incomparable talent known as Panther makes his smooth jazz prowl.
Guitar/Musical Director - Fred Clark
Born and raised in Chicago, Fred’s biography includes page after page of Platinum and Multi-Platinum artist he has performed with: including The Scorpions, Harry Connick Jr., DMX, En Vogue, & many more.
He has appeared often in Guitar Player magazine and can be seen regularly with Darius Rucker (lead singer for "Hootie and the Blowfish), Rachel Perry, and many others. He has served as musical director for many of the brightest up and coming artists as well as the legendary Little Richard.
Regardless of whatever your musical taste are, there is a good chance that Fred can be found somewhere in your CD collection.
Drums - Eric Valentine
A student of groove, Eric is well known for his unique drum style and hard work ethic. Eric provides the heart beat for the band. He has performed with artists Erykah Badu, Yolanda Adams, Regina Bell, Kirk Whalum, and Chris Botti. He can be seen regularly performing with Jonathan Butler and Stephanie Mills.
Bass - James Manning
James is referred to by many as the man who has one of the biggest bass tones in the music business today; he is often emulated but never duplicated. A true musician in every sense of the word, James can be seen performing regularly with Chaka Khan, Norman Brown and many other Grammy nominated and award winners.
Percussions - Tim “Timbali” Cornwell
Timbali has been playing and studying percussion for 29 years. He has studied with renowned teachers Baba Oloya Adelyamo, Markalino Diamond, and many others. He has performed with Janet Jackson, New Edition, Johnny Gill, and En Vogue, in addition to recording with many major R&B/POP artists. According to Babyface, when he feels the music is right, “Timbali always makes it better”.
Keyboards - Eddie Miller
Eddie is known for his amazing abilities as a keyboardist in addition to having a voice that has been described as analogous to Stevie Wonder. He has performed with many of the top acts of today and brings a wealth of experience to the stage time and time again. Eddie can be seen on a regular basis performing with smooth jazz artist Brian Culbertson.
Talent, experience, & soul are but a few of the attributes of this phenomenal band. Panther & his band bring an aura of professionalism only rivaled by the best. You have to see and hear it to believe it.
