Pants Velour is emcee Josh Raff, vocalist Niki Darling, hype-man Eli Northrup, guitarist Sam Coe, drummer Rajiv Ravishankar, bassist Larry Zipf, and keyboardist/vocalist Jordan Battiste. The band fuses hip hop, rock, and soul sensibilities to form a sound that has been likened to the Beastie Boys, The Roots, and The Fugees, or in the words of the Washington City Paper, "party-ready hip-hop." The songs they write feature sharp lyrics, catchy melodies and cool arrangements which in combination with the fusion of different genres makes for music that is distinctly its own. Their live show is ridiculous a dynamic and energetic live show that has been packing them in at venues along the East coast including Arlenes Grocery, Music Hall of Williamsburg, Hard Rock Café (Philadelphia), Rock and Roll Hotel(DC), etc. They have opened for artists including Anti-Pop Consortium and Talib Kweli.
