“…there’s a man in there that’ll pay you ten dollars to sing into his can!” and thus the movie “Oh, Brother Where Art Thou” resurrected a musical style of the depression era that most of us had only experienced in old movies with tinny soundtracks or poor copies of archaic recordings.
Just like the movie, The Paper Moon Shiners breathe life back into the songs of days gone by. The band is Elena Antinelli on vocals and Frank Meyer on vocals, guitar, dobro, ukulele and the invisible kazoo. They specialize in covering music from the Victrola/ vaudeville era to the present, sprinkling in some original compositions written in the vintage spirit.

Bio
Paper Moon Shiners is a duo from Austin, Texas. We specialize in vintage songs and originals inspired by American music from the early Twientieth Century including blues, jazz, swing, ragtime, jugband, americana roots and folk. "Our music is linked with the past, sometimes surreal and funny, sometimes operatic and sad. We mine time periods that conjure up smoky, over-crowded speakeasies, dust-bowl medicine shows, hot and sweaty honky tonks & harlem renaissance nostalgic night clubs."
Elena Antinelli fronts the band with her shoo-fly pie syrupy vibratos and turpentine tinged belly growls.
Frank Meyer toured with Gary Primich, played bass with B.B. King and roadied for Junior Brown once. He's the sincere songwriter with songs of depth and humor as well as the string man in the band. His fingers pull thumpin' notes from the stand up bass, delicate ripples from the ukelele, and soothing rythms from his jazz guitar. Mix all that with deep vocal tones that resonate like shifts in tectonic plates and yes, you'll feel the earth beneath your feet move.
