Bio

Formed in Spokane, WA in 2005, Paper Astronomer is Brian James (bass, vocals), Nick Lambert (guitar, keys, vocals), Casey Luport (vocals, guitar), and Mike Uhlenkott (drums, percussion); four multi-instrumentalists who each offer a wide range of musical influence and playing styles. At the band's inception, there were no real goals, just the desire to create and play music. After having played a few well-recieved shows, however, they realized that their band was a project worthy of more of their time and attention. This newfound determination, along with their love of playing music, drove them into the studio. It was during the writing and recording of their full-length debut album, Our life In Stereo (released under the band name Seven Years Absence), that the band began to find their collective voice. This process forced them to grow and develop personally, musically and professionally. With the album's successful release, they began to see the rewards of their hard work. In the three years since the release of their debut, Paper Astronomer has been keeping busy. Completing three self-booked tours of both the west coast and the Pacific/Inland Northwest, playing countless shows (comprising both electric and acoustic sets with varied instrumentation and a multitude of guest musicians) including several opening slots for national tours (most notably, Appleseed Cast, Falling Up and The Listening). In addition to their live shows, Paper Astronomer has also secured regular rotation on several major Spokane radio stations, local college radio, a feature on iRadio LA, and contributed podcasts to myreellife.com. This energy carried Paper Astronomer back into the studio to complete two Eps which showcased the new direction in music writing that the band had adopted. In 2009 the band made the move to Seattle, WA in order to refocus their writing and experience a larger musical market. Shortly after the move, Paper Astronomer got in contact with former Acceptance drummer, Nick Radovanovic about producing an EP that would really show what the band had to offer. Now, with the EP ready to be unveiled, Paper Astronomer, with an unstoppable work ethic, a confident and powerful live show, a mind blowing vinyl collection and 101 years of combined life experience, has hit their stride and has no plans of looking back.
