Bio

Musical monstrosity deposited in Halifax, Nova Scotia after the first 23 years in Burnley, England.

Tim Crabtree's haunting voice burns at the centre of the Paper Beat Scissors sound with an honesty and rawness that skirts discomfort. The self-titled debut was mixed by Arcade Fire's Jeremy Gara and produced by Mike Feuerstack (Snailhouse, Bell Orchestre) finding national radio play on both sides of the Atlantic and garnering rave reviews and a place on over a dozen 'best-of 2012' lists from as far afield as Mexico and Japan.

Labelled by the CBC as 'must-see act of the summer', in 2012 Paper Beat Scissors opened for Mark Kozelek (Sun Kil Moon, Red House Painters) and recorded a collaboration with My Brightest Diamond and Clogs (contributors to the National). None-stop touring across Canada and Europe since will only be broken briefly to begin work on the follow-up album with engineer Dean Nelson (Beck, Thurston Moore).

Praise for the 2012 self-titled debut:

“Crabtree’s more than one to watch, he’s one to listen to, now.” – Americana UK
