The best kept secret in music

Press

The photo on the front of the album's CD cover most certainly depicts Papi Ray Oneal's character as flamboyant, mystical and as an introverted personality. It seems as though the mask he's holding transmits telepathy communication, which may hold mysterious information about his destiny. While masking his eyes behind a pair of mirrored Hollywood-style sunglasses, undoubtedly for protection, there's a bright white glow illuminating from the mask. The photograph is curiously interesting and well thought-out to say the least.
Papi Ray traveled the globe with an international task force circuit for the military for a number of years. And while doing so, he captured the emotions of real events occurring to him in distant and unstable relationships by putting his collective emotions into songs of his newest album "No Regrets." The result is a unique contemporary hip-hop instrumental background sound mixed with r&b vocals, which he calls "Nu-Skool" r&b. His vocals and the instrumentals are vigorously energetic. The lyrics carry a meaningful message in the story-line that retains attention from the listener by anticipation of the suspense in the next verse of the song and its dramatic beat. Incredibly, Papi Ray allows his voice to flow with the emotions captivated from the lyrics and impulsively responding. And like a mirror, his quest for closure reflects similar instances into memory, while moving and touching your soul. www.CDBaby.com/cd/papirayoneal - The Musician's Bare Facts

Bio

Papi Ray Oneal is a soulful musical inspiration from the southern mid-west, where much of earlier blues and rock legends like Elvis Presley originated their careers. Papi Ray was born in Tunica Mississippi. At an early age, he and his family moved to the Kennett Missouri area (Sheryl Crow’s hometown), where he still goes back to visit.

Since history and everything else repeats itself by mixing the old with new, Papi Ray’s style of music could very well become the next step in (Top 40) contemporary music. It is what he calls “Nu-Skool” Urban R&B/Hip-Hip.

While traveling the globe with an entertainment circuit for the military, he has captured the emotions of real events occurring in unstable relationships and put them into the songs of his album. After leaving Anchorage Alaska, he traveled to places some of us will only dream about. To Panama, Colombia, Nicaragua, Honduras, Costa Rica, Belize, Mexico, Canada, Bahamas, France, Germany, Azores Islands, Portugal, Italy, Austria, Switzerland, Japan and most all of the states, including Hawaii.

After finishing his tour he has performed in club venues, recorded in major studios across the country in Memphis, St. Louis, Kansas City, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Nashville, New York, Chicago and has had a couple of videos produced in L.A. His style of “NU-Skool/Hip-Hop beats, blended with his R&B vocals are like no other compositions, but new, fresh and very unique. His vocals are smooth and original. His lyrics are deep, meaningful and surprisingly connected to popular thought. Let it be known, this guy is seriously talented! Recognized by News Tribune Articles by saying, “he has the ability to paint a vivid picture emotionally with a song” and “his music is the real deal.” While the “Musician’s Bare Facts” state “with this album he is definitely aiming for the industry’s stratosphere.

There was an era when lyrics were meaningful and expressed in the depths of a song by artist like Al Green and most recently by Usher. Papi Ray brings an up-to-date unique contemporary hip-hop instrumental background beat to life. Mixed with hot R&B vocals and the dynamics of energetic pop which kicks the rhythm into high gear, it produces vigorous high tensity story-line songs that not only hold your attention through it’s dramatic beat but also through the lyrics laid out in sequence that follow the realistic true-life-stories. These stories reflect similar instances into recollection from present and past memories, while moving and touching your soul. As the music allows you to drift back in time…pondering…the next thing comes to mind is…”what if?” What if everything had gone differently? How vital and vivid the information contained in each song’s lyrics relates to life’s complexities that separate self-control from destiny? This is the music that brings together the old & new concepts and has everything to be desired from music.

His previous single “I’m Not Sorry” played at fifty-six nationwide radio stations across thirty states and logged up to ten thousand spins. Making it the number two single on their “most added” promotional chart.
