PARAB POET & the HIP HOP HIPPIES
A collection of feel-good rhymes and raps, Parab Poet has been making a big impression on Saskatoon. They’ve performed at a variety of stages and events thus far (one notable appearance being at last year’s Food Truck Festival). This year, Mr. Poet and his crew will be performing at the main stage of the Jazz Festival — a damn quick rise for a new band, but one they totally deserve. - planet s
One musician familiar to the festival that you can’t help but enjoy is Michael Franti. While yoga enthusiasts enjoyed a noon hour session in the gardens, his headlining set, featuring a smooth combination of reggae and jazz, is both fun and crowd engaging. It was definitely a high energy night behind the Bess! Local opener, Parab Poet & the Hip Hop Hippies features a quick-talking MC performing along with a group of talented musicians-bass, violin, mandolin, percussion, drums, electronics. A perfect opener to get the crowd pumped up.

It was an inspiring sight, but no less than Franti’s evening performance, which saw a near-capacity crowd crooning along with the dreadlocked singer. Local openers Parab Poet and the Hip-Hop Hippies kept the party going well into the wee hours at their own headlining performance at Amigos. The multimember rap group, which features several vocalists along with some trumpet and violin lines for good measure, kept the energy high throughout the entirety of the evening.

Originally taking hip hop songs written by independent indie rhymer Parab Poet, they have together transformed them into an organic live hip hop show. An outstanding energetic force to be reckoned with! - Revelstoke Mountaineer
Parab Poet and the Hip Hop Hippies hoping to leave the audience feeling good
One of the first shows of the New Year is set and the musicians coming to P.A. are hoping to leave residents with a positive vibe.
Parab Poet and the Hip Hop Hippies (PPHHH) are coming to the Mann Art Gallery on Jan. 5 as a part of their album release tour.
The show will also feature local band The Wolfe. The two groups met at an all-ages show in Saskatoon.
“We’re looking forward to be able to play our first time together as a collective in P.A.,” said Chady Nasr, who goes by the stage name Parab Poet.
“We hope to connect with a lot of people and we’re excited to play with The Wolfe.”
The debut PPHHH self-titled album, which was released on Dec. 16, has been in the works for about a year.
It features 11 diverse songs from the unique group, which combines genres such as world drumming, hip hop, jazz, marching bad, classical and folk.
“From song to song you’re going to get a different kind of theme,” Nasr said.
“You experience the instrumentation and the unique characteristics of every group members. Every time we collaborate on a song it has its own feet to stand on.
“The album is very experimental. There’s a really diverse instrumentation and very experimental groovy vibes with quite conscious lyricism.” - Prince Albert Daily Herald
