"Hailing from the bright lights of Las Vegas, Nevada comes The Parachutes.

This EP from the band is a true Indie project. The CD I received in the mail was home burned, and the CD cover art that went with it was also homemade.

That said, I figured that the production quality on the CD would be less then top notch, and I wasn't disappointed. The CD has a tinny sound and some of the other usual production flaws associated with a low budget effort.

The Parachutes list Spoon, The Beatles, Of Montreal, The Strokes, Arcade Fire, and Tokyo Police Club as some of their musical influences. The band's sound is Indie Rock meets Pop Punk, with strong vocal tracks that hold their own against a barrage of steady guitar parts.

With only 4-tracks of music lasting just 12 minutes, it's hard to get a total feel for the band's talent, but what I did hear in their music was a really solid core of talented musicians, that when matched up with some real studio production time should be able to turn out some high quality music.

I think that if the band can raise the necessary funds to get the much needed studio time to polish their sound, they have a good chance of making a dent in the very competitive music industry." - IndieMusicStop.com

"Demo of the Week!"

"...The caliber of songwriting from this trio of youngsters (a couple, if not all of them are still in high school!) is surprisingly good! The Shins play an obviously large part in their lives, as you'll especially hear in the guitar playing, but I like what I hear!" - "DEMO OF THE WEEK" Chris Mac - Chris Mac/Indiepages.com

"(honorable mention) "County rains on teen club parade""

"The kids were there, around 100 of them, horsing around in hoodies and tie-dye...

All-ages music venue The Alley was primed for its comeback last Friday night, and things got off to a promising start, with buoyant co-ed popsters The Parachutes chirping through bright singalongs like a pubescent Yo La Tengo..."
