Parachute Stage

Parachute Stage

 Mineral, Virginia, USA
BandRockJam

Parachute Stage’s music draws its influence from the great rock bands of the sixties through the jam bands of today. That’s not to say Parachute Stage is a jam band, but rather that their sound has an uplifting feeling of freedom and optimism.

Biography

Parachute Stage is comprised of Brad Bahner (Drums), Brian Saitta (Lead Guitar), Tony Dini (Bass), and Dee Ginicola (Vocals, Rhythm Guitar). They are based in Deep River, Connecticut, where half of the members reside; the other’s stem from the New Haven region of CT. The music of Parachute Stage is all original and written by band-front, Dee Ginicola. She has been writing and playing acoustic styled music most of her adult life, but it wasn’t until the formation of the band that her sound truly evolved. The musical style of Parachute Stage definitely stems from the inspiration of artists such as Jack Johnson, Dave Matthews Band, Brandi Carlile, and the Grateful Dead.

Parachute Stage formed in the fall of 2009. Brian, Dee, and Tony had known each other for a few years prior and had always talked about getting together with a drummer and jamming on a few of Dee’s originals. Brian had then contacted friend and accomplished drummer Brad Bahner to set up the meeting. When the whole group finally got together an instant musical connection was made. It’s been no turning back since and the band has been busy writing and recording new material ever since.

Brad Bahner has been a percussionist/drummer since an early age and has really evolved into a diverse musician. Brad attended the Greater Harford Acadamy of the Arts in CT throughout high school and is currently enrolled in the Berklee School of Music in Boston, MA. Brad has performed in many groups throughout his career including rock & roll/funk cover bands, jazz combos, and big bands. Brad’s biggest musical influence is DMB drummer Carter Beauford which reflects greatly in his playing.

Lead guitarist Brian Saitta has been playing guitar since age 13 and was previously trained as a classical and jazz saxophonist. Stemming from an ancestry of artists and musicians, Brian draws his influences from two major guitar legends of the past, David Gilmour and Jimmy Paige. Both have greatly influenced Brian to become the player he his today, combining the melodic and minimalistic playing of Gilmour with the high powered blues rock of Paige give Brian his own unique sound. Brian has performed in several venues throughout the state of CT including the Webster Theatre, Toads Place, the Madison Arts Barn, and The Space to name a few.

Bassist Tony Dini was also trained as a classical musician throughout his younger years when he played the trombone throughout grade school. He then picked up the guitar during his high school years and is now playing bass for an original blues band from New Haven, CT as well as Parachute Stage. Tony is a very versatile musician who can play a variety of instruments and is also a very talented singer and songwriter. Some of Tony’s influences are Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, the Grateful Dead, and My Morning Jacket.

Lyrics

Green Tea

Written By: Dee Ginicola

Just drinkin’ my green tea
On a Thursday night.
You know it’s just a normal day
But I feel alright
....

I feel warm inside
Don’t got no place to hide
I wanna feel the wind in my hair
So let’s take a long ride
....

*I’m fallin’ as deep as your eyes
You leave me wondering where you’ve been all my life
Like a cup of herbal tea
You soothe my soul
Your lips are like honey
I’ve lost all control
....

So I lay in my bed
And you keep me smiling
Just hearing your voice
Scares the monsters away
....

Tell me why I’m so comfortable
‘cause I don’t know
I don’t know where you’ve been
But I ask you not to go
....

*
....

I don’t care about the distance you’re worth the wait to me
I’m not used to resistance
But if its fate
Its worth the wait to me

Gimme

Written By: Dee Ginicola

You never show me that you want me
Even when I beg you please
And when I’m breaking down in silence
I’m begging on my knees
....

Oh please don’t go
I need you to love me close
....

*

Gimme that thing I need
That dream I have
That vision in my mind
....

Show me that open door
Show me some more
If you want me to decide
....

Don’t let me go
Even when I run away
Just drag me home
Even if I fail to stay
....

I tried to show you what I wanted
But your hands flew in the air
I thought you’d given up on trying
But my message was so clear
....

Oh please don’t go
I need you to let me grow

Protest Song

Written By: Dee Ginicola

There’s a fire that’s still burning
Fade the anger in your eyes
Hate and war are not for learning
Kiss your enemies goodbye
....

There’s an angel on your shoulder
Listen close to her reply
Will you bring us home our soldiers?
She said, yes I will, you just need to try
....

Oh…
....

What did we learn from this fighting?
What do we gain from this mess?
If we stop and try uniting
There’ll be no one left to protest
....

Think about a place where our children are safe and smiling
Where our worst fear is a stub on our big toe
Common unity, prosperity, I’m dying
To scream it out to the world, let’s go.
....

Oh…

Sweet Escape

Written By: Dee Ginicola

You think you’re smart
Well I’ll tell you what,
You’ve got no heart
I’m not giving in
This is the start
For my life to turn around…
....

I’ve been around this block
And I’m starting to talk
You’ll go around the world
‘for you stop this girl
you’re not so tough are you
when I show you the truth, are you?
....

Your words are fire
But mine withstand all
Your wits are tired
And I’m standing tall
This is the way its gonna have to be
This is the way until you start to see
....

*
....

Hope your regrets
Won’t follow you long
Oh what I mess
I cannot prolong
My sweet escape
The chorus of this song

Old Man

Written By: Dee Ginicola

Old man went walkin’ down the street now
I don’t know where I’m gonna be next week
....

Repeat
....

No one can tell me what to know now
I’ll tell you that you’ll never know me well
....

Repeat
....
....

Wait war crafts, where you gonna fly next
Destroy that little girls last few breaths
....

Repeat
....

Those babies crying out for mercy
Their families hiding with your refugees
