"Local Artist Spotlight: Parade of Lights"

Those who think Vegas’ music scene is lacking clearly have not experienced Parade of Lights.

Parade of Lights is a ‘super group’ of sorts, combining former members of Hellogoodbye, Metro Station, and 30 Seconds to Mars into one of the most promising acts in the Vegas arena.

With catchy, well written songs, an energetic live show, and charismatic bandmates it’s tough to ever get enough of this group. Their three song set at Mix 94.1’s Band Battle for Bite lived up to the hype generated by more than 42,000 fan votes cast for them on the station’s website before the contest.

Thursday night’s gig at the Vegas Music Summit solidified their future as the next big act to come from Vegas. Even without the fancy lights and sound system provided at House of Blues, PoL (as I’ve affectionately deemed them) completely rocked the back patio at Beauty Bar with tracks including “Lovers,” “Starstruck,” and the ever danceable “Young Again.”

On the first chord during Thursday’s show a string on frontman Ryan Daly’s guitar broke forcing him to borrow a guitar belonging to Sacramento’s K Será. The snafu did little to hinder Parade of Lights’ performance; in fact, the guitar misfortune demonstrated how put-together this band truly is.

Why these guys remain unsigned is genuinely a mystery. Catch them before the record labels come to their senses on the Tropical Smoothie Café Local Stage at Mix 94.1's Bite of Las Vegas on October 23rd.

Bio

Ryan Daly, Matt Frey, Anthony Improgo & Randy Schulte all met in 2006 in Los Angeles, CA. Together they formed the band Polus. After putting out a four-song EP entitled Wish and playing around the LA area, Polus was put on hiatus.

Ryan went on tour with Hello Goodbye, Matt went out with 30 Seconds to Mars and Ant played drums in Metro Station. They stayed in contact and exchanged song ideas via email until Ryan, Matt, and Randy were able to reform as Parade of Lights with drummer Mike Nielsen. In January of 2010, the band parted ways with Mike, Anthony left Metro Station and rejoined Parade of Lights, completing the original lineup of the band.

Music placements on VH1, MTV and the E! network have garnered the band considerable attention from the Music and Television Industries. Parade of Lights is currently based in Las Vegas writing new material and playing shows.
