Paralelo 33º was established in 1995 following the common concerns of its members in developing a musical approach through the percussion instruments. Its structure allows to plot the course towards yhe most diverse destinations and offers the possibility to work on rhythms, melodies and harmonies with a seemingly limitless range of timbres. The academic and synphonic background of its members is not a limit because this ensemble's repertoire includes chamber music as well as popular expressions. Another major concern of the ensemble is working closely with composers in search of new aesthetic expressions. In this sense have worked with argentine composers such as Guillo Espel, Martin Liut, Marcelo Delgado, Marta Lambertini, Gerardo Gandini, Pablo Ortiz and Adalberto Vidal. Also can be mentioned collaborations with composers such as Annette Schlunz (Germany), Ney Rosauro (Brazil), James Tenney (North America), Thierry de Mey (Belgium), Jim O´Leary (Canada), Jose Luis Hurtado (Mexico). For musicians who have shared the stage with Paralelo 33º may appoint Jean Paul Bernard (Percussionists Strasbourg-France), Robby Schulkovsky (Germany), Tambuco (Mexico), Jean Geoffroy (France), Haydee Schwartz, Sonia Possetti, Damian Bolotin, Marcelo Torres, Opus 4 and Patricia Da Dalt among others. Teaching is a very important aspect for the group that has developed by offering seminars, workshops and clinics for composers, musicians and the general public in Argentina and abroad. Since 1999 Parallel 33º began participating in international festivals. Among them: "Percussion Latin America" (Mexico), "6th. and 7th. International Percussion Festival (Puerto Rico), "Percuba" (Cuba), "International Music Festival" (Buenos Aires) "Percfest" (Italy), "IV Festival de tango" (Buenos Aires), "Jeurnesses de la Percussion"(Paris, France). Paralelo 33º organized together with the Direction of Music of the Government of the City of Buenos Aires five editions of the International Percussion Festival BAP (Buenos Aires Percusión) since 2002. Also organizes anually the "Encuentro Internacional de Percussion" in UNLa. In late 2000 Paralelo 33º was elected by argentine press as one of the foremost chamber ensembles of the year. In July 2001 presented its C.D. "Relidades paralelas" recorded live and edited by EPSA Music and the Government of Buenos Aires. In 2004 premiered "Luz que mece un grillo y la luna" for four percussionists and orchestra composed by Guillo Espel. Since 2006, the members of Paralelo 33º are responsible for the Bachelor of Music oriented in Percussion in Universidad Nacional de Lanus (UNLa).
