Parker Avenue

"Parker Avenue", originally and predominantly a cover band specialising in refreshing the outlook on cover band music and performance contrast to the tedium of the industry, are now focusing their passion on their initial goal,... WRITING GREAT ROCK MUSIC!

The sound formed in the northern suburbs of Perth mid 2012 when Pete Ashton (vocalist, guitarist), began to finalise recording and mixing the various compositions he had been gruelling over the past couple of years. There, in his makeshift studio located out the back of his rental property in the tranquil Sorrento area, he had been gradually creating his new rock sound.

After a hard month of recording/tweaking/mixing the “NEW MISSION” EP surfaced. Energetic, somewhat manic, hard rocking tunes rounded by great yet unique song writing and topped with lyrics that resonate through your mind long after the first listen. There are many subtle yet discernible influences heard throughout the music including Billy Joel, Soundgarden, Foo Fighters, Refused, Beatles, Karnivool, Every Time I Die, Audioslave, Electric Mary, The Novacaines to name but a few.

Soon after it's completion, Pete teamed up with experienced drummer Paul Anketell session drummer (toured/recorded with names such as “Red, Wishing Bone and Krave”), bassist/vocalist Reece Whiting (ex “Soundstone”) to bring the recordings to life. After just a few rehearsals they took to the stage playing small venues around the Perth area instantly receiving great feedback and quickly grew their fan base.

Though the band are in their early stages as a professional original music unit, it is both a surprise and delight to many fans to learn of how little time they've been together. Many bands are criticised for not being able to replicate the sound and energy of their recordings live, yet with Parker Avenue that is definitely not the case. Their lively stage presence and execution of their music promotes a very exciting atmosphere making it virtually impossible to look away.
