Bio

Founded in Austin, TX by Michael Abraham (Ibrahim) and Nicolas Luna (Nicky Luna) in 2008, PARKING was created to fill a void in the modern hip-hop environment. Their sound combines modern production techniques and a contemporary lyrical sensibility with golden era honesty and respect for the lineage of hip-hop artists before them.

Raised in San Diego, Ibrahim at an early age had the seeds of hip-hop sewn into his life. He then moved to San Antonio where those hip-hop seeds flourished. He was a founding member of "Assassyn Dynasty" and opened for the likes of Wu-Tang to Def Jux. Eventually, it became clear that Austin may be a better home-base for a career in music. In 2006, he and Assassyn Dynasty moved to Austin, where the project transformed into a 5-piece live hip-hop band, Betaplayer. They soon became a local favorite and began playing with another local favorite, Dirty Stereo, whose line-up included Nicky Luna as their MPC player. A "brother" band unity was concreted by the bands sharing a tour-van for many shows and the SXSW festival.

At this point, Nicky Luna was enrolled in sound engineering school and offered to record an EP for Betaplayer. Betaplayer jumped at the opportunity and the recording began. While this recording was in process, Ibrahim approached Nicky Luna about recording some solo tracks that he had been working on with Jaz Infinite. Nicky agreed and while recording those tracks, he played some instrumentals he had been working on. Ibrahim was amazed at the sort of instrumentals Nicky had been making and the two decided to make a side-project which eventually became PARKING. The local response to this new project was exceptionally positive and everything was getting bigger and better. After a string of home-recorded EP's and singles, PARKING released the professionally recorded, "The Crown Fits", on March 3rd 2011. Response to that album was explosive, selling out of the run pressings in under a month. Now, PARKING continues to keep building and progressing. With a new album on the way, as well as, many new collaborations in the works, the crown really does fit.
