Byron Bay’s Parkway Drive have had an exceptional 2006, taking their brand of metallic hardcore to the masses, both here in Australia and internationally. The band toured the US, UK and Europe for 5 months throughout the year as well as touring on the Rockstar Taste Of Chaos Festival (October), an appearance at Homebake (December) and many sold out headlining shows throughout the year.
2007 is showing no signs of slowing down, in February they will be playing the Sydney and Brisbane Sound Wave Festival before heading back to Europe and the US in March and April.
Throughout 2007 Parkway Drive will record the follow up to "Killing with A Smile", which to date has sold over 20,000 copies. Killing With A Smile entered the Australian Independent charts as the # 2 release (and remained in the top 10 for months after its release) and charted in the ARIA top 40.
It’s been a quick rise for the five-piece, who formed in 2003. Relentless touring has been the key to their success- the band left no corner of the country unvisited in their quest to build a following. Finding favor with both the hardcore and metal scenes, by the time the band released their debut EP in 2004, Parkway Drive’s fan base was already massive.
