Parrish Tha Great is a musical prodigy who started rapping at the age of 7 while growing up in a tough neighborhood in Detroit. His lyrics are inspiring, truthful and fascinating. COMING UP IN DETROIT
As an only child, born to a teen mother and an absent father, Parrish quickly assumed the role of man of the house. “I grew up quick in Detroit, I love that city, cause it taught me a lot about life”. But it was after moving to Minnesota at the age of 12 that Parrish’s lyrics became more witty and profound, all due to the fact that his new world was highly focused on education and dreaming big. “Education is the key. Once I became educated, there was no stopping me.”

A CORPORATE THUG
For many years, Parrish followed the “usual” path to success. He attended Howard University and lived in Washington, D.C., an experience he says helped him become a real man. He got a corporate job, and while he earned the respect and admiration of his friends and family, something was missing. He would wear a suit and live a life full of scripts and rules by day; and by night he would stay up writing lyrics and rapping in his garage. He would reflect on his roots from Minnesota and Detroit. It was this ‘double-life’ that helped him realize the normal definition of ‘making it’ was not for him. “Following your dreams and your passion, that’s what ‘making it’ means to me”. Through his lyrics, Parrish wants to inspire people to see their purpose and realize their full potential. He believes you can’t turn your back on your gift, whatever it is, or you’ll end up miserable.
