Still working on that hot first release.

Parvaaz's sound is best described as a haunting soundscape of blues, rock, and psychedelia with soulful Kashmiri and Urdu lyrics layered over it. Their songs deal with experiences and ideas explored through Kashmiri and Urdu poetry. Comprised of two Kashmiri Muslims, a Catholic, and a Hindu, Parvaaz embody a diverse India, brought together by ties of humanity, respect, and love of music.Their music has been featured in an award-winning documentary, "Soz, A ballad of maladies" and in the yet-to-be-released mainstream Hindi film "Vodka Diaries"

[Parvaaz is an Urdu word for flight]

Over the last 6 years, Parvaaz have composed and recorded 14 original songs, split between an EP ("Behosh", July 2012) and a full-fledged CD album ("Baran", September, 2014).

In an over-crowded progressive music scene around the world, and an increasingly active one within India, Parvaaz sit atop a rare peak of musical distinction that is, at various times and in various parts, accessible, bold, effervescent, soothing and, above
all, soulful.

Parvaaz's music (and how they go about making and presenting it) seems to represent a certain sanctity and grounding that is rare in the recent generations as a whole but musicians within those generations in particular. Even so, when something like Parvaaz's music cuts through such collective lethargy, numbness and jadedness, it strikes a chord so deep that it raises our whole collective consciousness, even if only fleetingly. This quality in their music makes Parvaazdistinctly different from almost every band in India today and is a rare throwback to pioneering musicians of bygone eras that continue to have that type of effect on their audience.

The band recorded a live performance at Jagriti Theatre in Bangalore. Filmmaker, Gokul Chakravarthy, who curated this performance named "Transitions", also subsequently produced, directed and released a live concert film thereof.
