Bio

Passing Strangers is the brain child of John Boyd and started building their fan base in 1985. Over the years, Passing Strangers has gone through various changes to remain on the cutting edge of music and to continually provide a quality product for their fans. Many know John Boyd and Passing Strangers for their dance/techno remake of Gary Wright's "Dream Weaver" from the CD Moment in Time. This album gained national exposure, taking John and the "boys in black" as far as Poland and Germany. In the US, the album sold over 20,000 copies in one year--with no distributors or advertising. In the mid 1990’s, John Boyd and Passing Strangers relocated from San Antonio to the Dallas-Fort Worth music scene where they toured with groups like Tonic, Fem 2 Fem, EMF, Information Society, Flock of Seagulls, Book of Love, Oleander, and The Doobie Brothers.

Passing Strangers has also played as a U2 tribute band made up of the same band members called Blood Red Sky, and John "Bono" Boyd currently fronts a nationally touring U2 tribute band, Vertigo USA. Vertigo USA was chosen to tour with U2 in recent years and continues to do so today.

John Boyd has recently relocated Passing Strangers to Colorado and with the help of Keith Jupe on drums and Justin Gomes on bass, continues to expand the reach of Passing Strangers’ fan base.

Justin Gomes hails from the Bay Area of California and has been playing music since the age of 14. Justin found his musical voice in the bass guitar while growing up in 80's era listening to bands that ranged from New Wave, Pop, Classic Rock, Soul, and yes…even the Hair bands. He is well versed in many styles of music and has played in and written songs with serious original bands such as "Battery Park" and “and Sometimes whY” as well as gigging in successful working cover bands all over the West Coast and Colorado.

Keith Jupe began playing drums at the age of 12 and later polished his percussive skills in college where he was a member of the Texas Tech Drumline and Jazz Ensemble. During that time, Keith also performed at Sea World with other musicians from prestigious schools such as Julliard, Eastman, and the University of North Texas. Keith is experienced in all musical styles and has performed in numerous cover and original projects throughout Texas and Colorado such as Heist, Merge, Bliss, The Seamonkeys, and E7. Through his musical career, Keith has performed along side drummers from big named acts such as John Mayer, Jason Aldean, and Kevin Fowler and has even performed in drum clinics trading solos with the late great Louie Bellson.

John Boyd, Passing Strangers, and Vertigo USA are currently playing regular shows in Colorado, Texas and across the U.S. Their music is available on Myspace, SnoCap, iTunes, and Pandora.
