The Bloomington- area based Pass the Peas is an eclectic blend of funk, r&b, and straight ahead rock and roll. Infectious grooves and cunning lyrical content bring an old school fashion to an increasingly bland pop scene.
Pass the Peas is comprised of extremely polished local musicians. With founding member Teresa Lavender on lead guitar and vocals, Dave Angeloff on drums, and Brain Spinks on bass, the bands abilities to pump out high energy music are unchallenged.
Even when covering another artist's work, Pass the Peas is sure to give it their own twist. Perhaps Blondie's "Rapture" has never sounded better as a hard core funk tune. Similarly, it is doubtful that Lucinda Williams had a swinging rock tune in mind when she recorded "Can't Let Go", but the bands simplicity combines well with the complex beats and rhythms. The Stray Cats, Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder and some traditional country tunes are also part of Pass the Peas repertoire of covers.
With sets consisting of both originals and covers, Pass the Peas remains one of the most versatile bands in the area. This versatility, combined with a true joy for what they do, makes Pass the Peas a pleasure to watch and a treasure to hear.

Lavender's vocals and guitar work are signature elements woven into the heart and soul of the band.
Pass the Peas being a female fronted "guitar slingin' fool" band... we have been received very well and saught after just so folks can witness Lavender in action.
We are quite proud of our sets being a variety and we are certain each listener will find reflection.
Along with our cover tunes our sets are loaded with our original material with impressive, definitive grooves that fuels the band to it's most soulful core.
We enjoy what we do and we love sharing this love with others. After all, music is what makes the world go around.
