Pastor Karen J. Butler
Music-ography of A Song Stylist:

Vocally her experience began at an early age as a second soprano and lead soloist in the choirs of Union Baptist Temple, Bridgeton, NJ and later in Tabernacle Baptist Church, New Brunswick, NJ. As years passed, her range deepened and she became a very powerful tenor.

The gift of writing was there even as a little girl but was recognized after the Lord saved and transformed her life in 1975. She served as a Praise & Worship leader, lead soloist and a “choir director,” in Bethel Pentecostal Church, and eventually began to write songs for plays. She wrote over eight original compositions for one play. The Mt. Sinai Holy Churches of America Inc. National Workshop Choir recorded one of those songs in 1980.

Life as a musician began in 1994 after the Lord challenged her to learn to play at the age of 44. She obeyed amid the jokes and laughter. Elder Anthony Pitts of Trinity Holiness Church prayed and anointed her and the violin, and allowed her to play in the church even while she was learning to play by ear. She studied under violinist, Mrs. Doris Walker of Millville, NJ. In 1999 she moved to Michigan and received a few coaching sessions from violinist Prof. Sam Murrell (COGIC) and violist Han Zheng (the DSO). In 2004 she competed in a Bobby Jones New Artist Competition and performed as a Solo Gospel Violinist at conferences, weddings and events across the country and abroad.

Listen as Miss Butterfly debuts her divinely inspired and arranged song, accompanied by an anointed musician on keyboards, Pastor John P. Willis (Adonai Int’l. Ministries-Detroit, MI). This single is her first installment on a full CD project to come. Hear The Dedication, and the Story of the Birth of the Song. When you hear The Violin Prelude and Vocal Performance you will “feel the fire” enough to sing along with the Accompaniment track and finish with the warmth of the Reprise: Prayer of Benediction. Then you too, will find that “There’s A Fire In Your Soul!
