"The Undergound Experience"

Underground Experience Feature 5/12/20 Pat Miller
05/12/2020
This months feature is a artist that is unmoved by today’s standard of trap drums and gimmicks etc.....lets vibe with pat miller

Mistajay: What is the story and conception behind your artist name?

Pat Miller: My last name is actually Miller and the Pat comes from a family member who passed years ago. This person put me on to music early on in life. So that was my way of living the dream for the both of us.
Mistajay: What area are you reppin? What is the hip hop scene like there?

Pat Miller: I’m representing Fayetteville, NC. It’s a diverse city with Fort Bragg being smack in the middle. It’s definitely a growing city.

Mistajay: Your bio stated that you are unmoved by today’s standard of trap drums and gimmicks etc., so how that Influenced your style/music?

Pat Miller: I look at the music I make like its art. What do I want people to feel? Does it flow? Is there a message? I think I’m a lot more critical with subject matter and production. I want to stand out in a positive way.

Mistajay: What are your influences of your music? And what inspires you?

Pat Miller: Early on it was Little Brother, Kanye West, Outkast, Lil Wayne, definitely Nas but I was a fan of Hip-Hop and I really listened to everything. I dig those guys who are really descriptive. I think a lot of what I do derives from that.

Mistajay: How do you describe your style?

Pat Miller: It’s a slower tempo and very smooth a lot of my versus aim to say something whatever that may be; conscience driven but also very unapologetic.

Mistajay: “Ladidadi” and “Nostalgia” are just two of offerings that you have out right now of those or any of the other songs you have created …What is your best song recorded to date and why?

Pat Miller: I really feel whatever song I’m doing is my favorite. You’re only as good as your last song and I try to get better with every record.

Mistajay: How has thos covid 19 crisis effected your ability to book shows or perform?

Pat Miller: COVID 19 makes it harder to do shows and shoot visuals but it does allow me more time to record new music so, it’s bitter-sweet.

Mistajay: If you could share the stage with any 3 artists or bands who are still around and touring, who would they be and why?

Pat Miller: Kendrick, Andre 3000, and J. Cole. I feel they are the best poets! They are very creative and original artists.

Mistajay: Alot of artists come into the game with a lot of ambition but don’t spend time learning the business side. How important to you is learning about publishing and royalties?

Pat Miller: I think being independent its important. Small labels like mine have to wear a lot of hats to get the job done.

Mistajay: Where do you see the music going in 2020? How do you see yourself fitting into that?

Pat Miller: You never know what to expect. I can’t tell you what my peers are bringing but we are looking to change the climate in music. Period. Originality is the word for 2020. It should be fun!

Mistajay: What are your future plans?

Pat Miller: As far as the future goes, I’m working on a mixtape as we speak, and we are close to being done. I will be doing shows as soon as COVID 19 clears up. In the meantime, we’re still making songs and promoting. It’s just another day living the dream.

Bio

Unmoved by today’s standard of trap drums, gimmicks and repetitive songs, North Carolina’s own, Pat Miller redefines what it means to be cool. This MC is ready to clear his own path and lay the foundation for old-school Hip-Hop, with new-school appeal. Using wordplay and delivery to paint vivid pictures, you hear his commitment to Hip-Hop for what it truly is…Art. Pat Miller proudly represents the independent label, Vintage ’87 Sounds working behind the scenes, with Supa and Zebo Jones. Collectively they’re looking to build a campaign in the liking of Dreamville or TDE. With the incredible art being created, Vintage ’87 and Pat Miller may just have the pieces they need to start their own Hip-Hop Renaissance.
