Bio

..."Singing her heart out, blowin' the hell out of the sax, and telling stories to her new found fans as if they were old friends at a back yard barbeque, had to have people wondering why Pat Pepin is not a more recognizable name in the Blues world, as indeed it should be." - Pete "Blewzzman" Lauro for BluesWax

Pat Pepin

Pat is a singer and saxophonist who knows the blues from the inside out. She sings with conviction and power, infusing her music with heart-felt emotion reminiscent of her vocal influences: Aretha Franklin, Janis Joplin and Etta James. From a hardscrabble childhood in central Maine, Pepin began her singing career in the church choir, like countless blues and soul singers before her. As a young single mother, she earned a B.S. degree in music from the University of Maine at Augusta’s respected music program, majoring in saxophone and vocals.
While getting her degree, she began fronting her own band, the Pat Pepin Project, playing local and regional gigs. Pepin plays saxophone, guitar, drums and bass. She three times won the Maine Blues Society competition, representing the state at the International Blues Challenge in Memphis in 2002, 2004 and 2008.
Pepin has performed in numerous blues festivals, including the North Atlantic Blues Festival in Rockland, ME and The South Florida International Blues Festival.

Pat's latest CD release "In it for the Long Haul" has advanced to the final round of judging for the Best Self Produced CD. The winner will be announced at Solo/Duo Finals on the Orpheum Theater stage January 23, 2010 as part of the International Blues Challenge in Memphis, TN.

Pat’s passion is not confined to the stage. Her warm and upbeat manner is a hit with kids. She hosts the annual Children’s Program at the Maine Blues Festival and has had the honor of working with patients at the Barbara Bush and Shriners Hospitals as part of ‘Raising the Blues’.

Pat sincerely hopes that you will give her your kind consideration as regards her talents and what she offers in terms of being an accomplished Blues educator, saxophonist and vocalist.
