"You’ll struggle to find a band that has more fun onstage together..."

Patch and the Giant are one of London’s biggest folk bands – in a very literal sense. Their line-up involves a string trio, a one-girl brass section, the happiest man in England and, completely unrelated, the loudest. And that’s not even all members accounted for! You’ll struggle to find a band that has more fun onstage together...

"Give me a pint, a pub and Patch & The Giant..."

North London based crew come along with quaint instrumentals, fireside melodies and, to be honest, a good old winter warmer. Give me a pint, a pub and Patch & the Giant and I’ll be sitting pretty for hours - www.greenwedge.org

"Fantastically energetic and foot-stomping..."

Fantastically energetic and foot-stomping, it comes as a great surprise that they have only been together for less than a year. Their maturity and understanding of their instruments would suggest a much greater time spent together, but this can only illustrate the talent of this super seven. - Thank Folk For That

"A band you should make an effort to catch"

Another band that shows the London folk scene is alive and kicking!
They’re a band you should make an effort to catch, they’ve been sharing the bill with some of our favourite bands recently including Dave Gerard and the Watchmen, Daniel Green of Laish and many more. - Folk Radio UK

"These lovely people never fail to impress"

These lovely people never fail to impress with their energy, not to mention their ability to get the whole room on their feet and dancing, an admittedly rare phenomena to come across these days
- For Folk's Sake

Bio

‘Fantastically energetic and foot-stomping super 7' (thankfolkforthat.com). Patch & The Giant are an alt-folk band from London; a spirited troupe of five boys and two girls who together craft their own, infectious brand of 'rough-edged folk' (Time Out). With an air of ramshackle decadence, the songs are delivered with strong vocal harmonies, soaring strings, keys and buttons along with boots, braces and warbling brass. Their hearty and energetic take on modern folk is rustically enigmatic with definite nods towards the sea; the songs are anthemic, proudly lyrical with most featuring at least one ship.

Formed in late 2011, they made their debut on the UK festival circuit in 2012, including Watchet Festival and Festibelly (both nominated for Best Grass Roots Festival at the UK Festival Awards) and are planning a return with abundance in 2013.

Patch & The Giant have recently signed to Folkroom Records and May 2013 will see the release of their debut EP.

As part of an ongoing residency at The Boogaloo in Highgate (dubbed by GQ magazine as ‘the sweetest little juke-joint in the world’), they are also the people behind The Sunday Fete @ The Boogaloo, a monthly all-afternoon event celebrating the best of the folk and acoustic scene from in and around London.
