"Patient Patient in The Stranger"

Patient Patient, in case you've overlooked any of my recent praise for the band, are an impressive local quartet who play slightly experimental indie rock that'll no doubt sit right for fans of Muse and Radiohead's more guitar-heavy material. - The Stranger

Bio

Patient Patient is a band reminiscent of the land that birthed its four affiliates. Like the overcast Northwest, the band..s sound, though colorful and dynamic, usually has a precipitating moodiness. The band finds its roots in the basement of guitarist/vocalist Neal Burton..s house. Burton and the band..s bassist, Kevin Dorn, began writing music there at the age of fourteen. The two later collaborated with guitarist Eric Fast and began playing shows under various monikers over the years. Patient Patient was made complete in 2003 when a friend introduced them to their former drummer Tyler Martin. This addition sealed and fermented the band as a whole and they soon made their first E.P. Professionals and Convicts, produced by Matt Bisch at Bird Dog Studios. After suffering a brief hiatus while Burton studied music in Boston and changing members with the addition of their current drummer Rory Martin, the group is now establishing itself in the evolving indie-rock scene. Often described as having a Brit Rock sound, Patient Patient is a conglomerate of influences based on its band members alone. They all have very different music backgrounds, from jazz to punk to alternative rock. Burton's vocals are an interesting convergence of classical and pop, evoking the range of Thom Yorke and Jimmy Gnecco. Patient Patient..s song writing portrays a dedication to all that is melancholy and real. The sometimes haunting vocal melodies in combination with instrumental intensity, ask the listener questions with an artful passion that never feels completely helpless. Patient Patient captures a fresh sound that is dark and full of light; mournful and dry; beautiful and raw. -Caroline King
