Bio
Atmosphere – the word often brings to mind wide open spaces, gazing into a beautiful sunrise or star-filled night sky. Creating atmospheric music was the primary goal Brad Johnson had in mind when he began talking to his friends about starting a band that would revolutionize music as people know it. He wanted to put it off until college, but he began looking to audition members after friends began mentioning interest in pursuing the band. After many short and ill-ventured auditions, Brad noticed the talent and opportunity in two of his good friends, Abbie Miller and Dan Michie at their high school’s variety show. Not long after, Brad discovered incredible young talent in Luke Roehrborn and Erich Kuerschner at a friend’s jam session. He quickly inquired if they were interested in joining his new band, and after talking about details, they were onboard. After solidifying the lineup, Patmos was a band with large potential that wasted no time in getting down to business. Although they may still be a new band, they have already generated local buzz and show no intentions of letting up. Be on the lookout for their debut album in early 2010 and plenty of shows throughout the Chicagoland area. Many people ask where the band name comes from. Brad derived the name from Revelation 1:9 in the Bible. The apostle John was exiled to an island off the coast of Greece called Patmos, which is where he wrote down the visions known as Revelation. "I wanted a name that was impactful, succinct, and easy to remember, but also captured all the atmospheric soundscapes I dreamed the band capable of. Patmos fit like a glove."
