Watch out Rihanna and Nikki Minaj: Jamaica’s Dancehall Queen Patra is coming after them with both barrels drawn. “I went on hiatus from the music industry to work on my personal development. During my absence, two Caribbean girls, Rihanna (Barbados), Nikki Minaj (Trinidad and Tobago) emerged as “International Mainstream Caribbean Extraordinaires.” “Everyone knows I was the first, quoting my friend Billy Ocean “Caribbean Queen.” I love both of them but it is time for them to feel what the original International Caribbean Queen can do again.”
Patra is back. With a new single entitled “Silly Little Walls,” she has made a collaboration with Veal-Steen Music publishing executive Steve Lane. Lane explained, “Our goal now is to simultaneously help her reconnect with her fans and introduce her music to a new audience.”
Patra has had an exciting career. Her first solo recording, "Worker Man," peaked at #53 in the Billboard’s R&B charts and later that same year on the Hot 100, reached the Top 20 on the R&B chart and hit #1 on the U.S. Dance chart. Her second single, "Romantic Call," (#55 U.S., #21 U.S. Dance), was a collaboration with emcee Yo-Yo. Her debut album, Queen of The Pack (#1 on the Reggae albums chart) also featured the hit single, "Think (About It)" (#21 U.S. Rap, #89 U.S. R&B). Her second album, Scent of Attraction, sold slightly less but still reached #2 on the Reggae albums chart. Her biggest hit was her cover of Grace Jones's "Pull Up to the Bumper" (#60 U.S.) and the title track, featuring R&B musician Aaron Hall (#82 U.S.).
Patra also performed on the 1995 Panther movie soundtrack with the song "Freedom (Theme from Panther)", a collaboration between the American music industry's leading urban female vocalists. She also performed on C+C Music Factory's remix of its hit single "Take a Toke" that same year.
Patra’s break from the music industry is over. She working her way back to the top and is taking no prisoners.

Short for “Cleopatra,” “PATRA” has been the “Queen of the Pack” since day one. With 5 singles in the U.S. top 100 R&B charts (one as high as #20), her prominent reputation was set 2 albums into her career. Having taken 5 years off since her last release “Where I’ve Been” (2005), “PATRA” is now ready to sit upon her throne once again, and woo the masses with her sensual style and captivating voice. While still working on her upcoming project titled, ”Patra, The Continuation,” her first leak song “Bad inna Bed,” was unleashed by Sway (of MTV) on his Sirius Xm radio show. The hypnotic baseline and catchy hook have drawn the attention of both new fans and loyal followers, preparing the masses for “PATRA” to blaze the charts in 2013.
Native to the island of Jamaica, “PATRA” was born in Kingston and later grew up in Westmoreland Parish. She always had a love for music and started nurturing her craft singing in church and later began Dj’ing as a teenager under the name Lady Patra. After establishing herself in Jamaica as an artist, “PATRA’s” debut album “Queen of the Pack” immediately hit the US R&B charts with her first single “Think (About It), feat Lyn Collins” which reached as high as the 89th spot. She picked up early momentum as a featured singer on the Shabba Ranks song, "Family Affair," which hit #84 on the Billboard Hot 100. Later on that year “PATRA” hit the charts with her follow-up single ”Worker Man” off her debut album “Queen of the Pack.” The next two years she blazed the charts hitting the Billboard Hot 100 three times with her hits “Romantic Call” (reaching #55), “Pull Up to the Bumper” (reaching #60), and “Scent of Attraction” (reaching #89).
The following years “PATRA” continued to release good music, but due to contractual conflicts she chose to take a sabbatical. “PATRA” states, “I’m still going to do what I’ve always done, but I want my music to be more sexual. I’m a grown woman now and I am more comfortable with myself and my experiences, so I want to make music that men will enjoy and women will learn from.” Her re-introduction song, “Bad inna Bed” expresses just that. The hook declares, ”I don’t wind in a dance, but I’m bad in a bed,” fully enforcing her sexy, grown woman disposition “PATRA” is letting the world know that she still carries herself with the stern elegance of a queen, but can put it down when she needs to. Working hard and getting ready to attack 2013 like it owes her something, “PATRA” is looking to sit atop of her throne and blaze the Billboard charts once again.
